Howdy. Been lurking here for quite a while. I registered some time back, just ain't never intro'd myself. Basics-
Jeff
1946 Studebaker M5 pick 'em up truck project
Frame swap in progress- Chebby LUV is the donor
Ford 292 Y block, Offy 3 duece intake, C4 trans
8" Ford rear
Primered rusty brown, at first- eventually a copper color
Steel wheels w/ Stude dog dish caps
Builing it for as cheap as humanly possible- got a wife & 2 kids, so some of my cash has to go to them. Right now its in a thousand peices scattered about my garage, but its slowly coming back together. I really dig the traditional rod flavor, but don't get into the whole "lifestyle" thing. I surf this site to absorb the awesome tech posts some of you guys make. Now hopefully I can join in the discussions w/o having the world-famous "HAMB Intro Police" in hot pursuit. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Actually, I used those to get the frame level & square. I had to stretch it 10" to make the wheel base work out. I normally use solid concrete blocks as jackstands.....

46Stude...welcome aboard.
Glad to see another Gulf Coaster (althought I now live in Waco)... I'm originally from Corpus Christi.
Looks like your closest HAMBer would be Johnny Ace.

Thanx for the welcome. Thats a nice Stude, even if its not traditional- the color scheme is cool.
Other than trad rods, I really have a thing for gasser & altered wheelbase rides. The nose-high straight axle look is just plain wicked.

Welcome! Sold a 50 Olds project to a guy from Rockport , retired guy, cant remember his name. Good to see an equal opportunity builder- Stude body, Chev frame, Ford engine. Guess it is a Stuchefor?

Let's see... he posts a good intro... gives "some" of his money to his family (I assume the rest goes to the Stude), he isn't into the whole "lifestyle" thing... AND he's from Texas...
I'd say that's about the BEST intro this week! Shit! Maybe even this month!
YOU'RE IN!!!
Welcome!
Sam.

Wow, thats a Hell of a compliment! Aw shucks, SamIyam. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif
Y'know, I never even thought about my "jackstands". Does give me the ol' redneck vibe, don't it? Kids, don't try this at home....

Welcome to the board. I dig the Stude pickup, especially the choice of drivetrain.

That's a nice M series, Tinbender. I haven't decided yet if mine will get flames or pinstripes. What is powering your Stude?
ABone312, I think I can guess why you like my choice of drivetrain! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Mine's got a SBC/nova clip. Yeah, I know...Yawn...but it was cheap and easy, just like me http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif She's due for fresh coat of primer. I'm thinking about scallops.

Welcome aboard, looks like a cool project ! With all of these Y-blocks coming out of the wood work, I may just have to find one of them to build. I agree with Sam, good intro. Now, how about telling us the hot spots for catching some red snapper ?!? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

CD, I know of a couple good fishin' holes, but believe it or not, I don't fish! And if that don't make you sick enuff, I live on the water- Copano Bay is about 150' from my porch. Fishing is an expensive habit, & I prefer my $$ to go to my hot rod projects. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Tinbender, I had planned on using a Poncho frame clip on mine, but the one I had a line on didn't unbolt from the car. Chevy 350s are good engines- it may be a "boring" powerplant, but at least its on the road!
