Hey guys, My name is Spike, I,ve been looking at this message board for a long time and decided it was about time to start posting once in a while. I've been into rods for as long as I can remember. At 14 I bought a FE 390
motor for 50 bucks tore it down to rebuild it and found out it was a 406 sold it to the machine shop, bought a 62 Ford Galaxie w/ a 292 Y block, took off the front bumper, installed a four barrel intake, modified some fenderwell headers in metal shop, replaced the ford-o-matic w/no jack and installed a mustang floor shifter. Then proceeded to ruin my Dads back yard doin burnouts and burning spots in the grass from the headers. Sold that one bought a 56 Chevy, 4 dr, 6 banger, about that time my Granddad gave me a 2dr 70 Chevelle, I was able to trade both of those cars for a 67 Plymouth GTX 440 magnum, 4 speed, metallic silver w/ black factory interior, Fenton wheels, cheater slicks and thrush mufflers, That was the car I got to hit the streets with at 16 years old, I was one lucky son of a buck. I drove it for about 2 years won a lot of races then learned a hard lesson about rain+speed+worn rear tires=guard rail, brick fence and big palm tree. I sold the wrecked GTX to a buddy, back then a lot of my older friends with fast cars were having to sell rods to buy family cars so I was able to get an even quicker car a gutted 65 Ford Falcon, Radical 351 W, B&M auto and 4.57 -9" rear. That car got me the quickest ET at the High School Drag at Bee Line Dragway. Any how I've built raced numerous cars since. Latley I've been getting into the more traditional type rods with the current projects being - 49 Chevy Fleetline w/transverse leaf staight axel, 455 Olds, 200R4--29 Model A 5 window coupe, w/327 - 35 Hudson Terraplane on a 34 ford chassis, 1959 Pontiac 389, I'll try to post some pics of these projects, there has been a lot of progress since these photos were taken. Some of my other interests latley, my partner and I have promoted 3 Nostalgia Car Show-Drag Races at Speedworld Raceway Suprise, Az. our local drag strip. It seems like the local traditional rod car clubs are showing some interest in these events, my partner and I are having a blast doing it. Well got the intro out of the way look forward to posting soon, take it easy Spike
