View Full Version : pix of cross stear set ups?
i know how they work but i would like to know if anyone has run this type of set up in a car that is preety low. i know the most common route is to not run it cross stear style. but i like how it keeps everything out of sight and smooth on the outside.
if anyone has run this set up in a low 30s car could you please show some pix, or give me some insight on what neds to be done to make it clear everything and work correctly?

My 31 is not especially low, but I'd say if you're going low you may want to think about the fore & aft drag link bit.
As long as the pitman doesn't hang down too far you can have just as good if not better clearance than the cross steer.
One thing to watch out for with a cross steer is don't hang the steering box too low.
And especially don't have the pitman arm be the lowest point on the car.
Here's a couple pics that may help.
This pic shows the left side viewed from the back.
The bracket with lightening holes is for the panhard.
The batwings in the above pic are Deuce Factory stainless.
Most of the other stuff is home-made including the radius rods.
The pic below shows the right side as viewed from above.
It shows the right side end of the draglink and tie rod as well as the panhard bar.
I have other pics of the panhard bar mount if you're interested as well as other areas pertaining to steering et al.
(Don't be confused by the steel stored under the car.)
thanx.
do you have any pictures of the rods going from the box to the front end?

Is this what you're after?
Here's a slightly different angle - note that the panhard bar is not installed.
