I catch the red eye flight home Friday morning and was all stoked about getting back in town so that I can drive my car and hang out with my Coollow buddies. I hop in the jalopy with my pops and drive down to the Coollow shop, as soon as I turn into the drive way the car goes dead and I coast the rest of the way in and park the ride. Tell my pops "I wonder what’s up" so we go into the shop and talk shop for a while with the guys that are there. After about an hour we go out to my car to figure out what is up. We checked everything, replaced coil, module, checked the ignition, bypassed the ignition and stills nothing. Well we were running short on time so we said fuck it come back in the morning.
Saturday morning get back to work on it. We pull the distributor and say what the hell take it back to the store since it is lifetime warranty. So at this time New distributor, cap, rotor, etc. Pulled plugs, not fouled. Keep fucking with and still no luck. Dad reminds me to check the electric fuel pump. Well it was not humming like usual. Come to find out all this trouble was over a busted fuse.
Ok no problem a little frustration over a fuse. Well about 11:00 Saturday night I figured I would go for a cruise and hang out for the last hour at Suffer City Tattoo (coollows). I get about a mile from the house; the car goes dead after going thru the gears pretty hard. Pop the hood and fuel is all over the place. Some of Iraq's finest has pooled up on the intake just asking for a spark. Car would not start. So I call pops up tell him to run me some tools. Turn the key on fuel shoots out of the vent tube. Last time was a stuck check valve on fuel pump. So that is where I started. Took all apart and all is fine. Move up to the carb and pull the fuel bowl. Everything looks fine except for one small piece. While I was in Jersey my little bro took my carb to school to rebuild it. Well when he slid the float back on the pivot he did not put the c-clip on the pivot to keep on float from sliding back and forth, which caused the needle to stay open and caused Iraq's finest to gush out. No problem dad leaves me on the side of the road hauls ass back to the house and finds an old Holley and steals me a clip. Put carb back together and now all is great. So now after 2 days of trouble I have to get back on the plan tomorrow for another week of out of town work. What a fun and exciting weekend on the side of the road.
