Okay, here's the scenario...as only a screwball like me could play it out...

You stumble onto some old artifacts in your basement while rumaging around in a futile search for a single, old style round 12v headlight for your car.

After finding a bag filled with new automotive gauges stashed there years ago, you find yourself temporarily distracted by them and pick out the two best ones for installation in your car.

Getting back to the search, you discover a groovy, vintage 70s glass Pepsi bottle way back on a shelf that hasn't seen the light of day since the Reagan administration at least! No wimpy 16.9oz bottle, this is the bigger 750ml deal!

A little dusty, but in otherwise great shape...except for being occupied by a couple of those creepy household centipede thingys!

(Luckily, they're long dead, so you dump their corpses into the trash then dash upstairs to clean and rinse the bottle out for possible future use!)

them centipede things will leave eggs that nothing any of us can buy legally will kill, and if one of them gets in your guts well maybe 3 or 4 months from now you'll get all bunged up and you'll see your belly skin start to move around, by then its likely to late for you

It strikes me that this vintage container might make a better puke tank than a drinking container... However, you're probably safe. If not, try a diluted bleach solution and then plenty of fresh water?

rinse the bottle with a mixture of bleach and water. If you rinse it enough with water afterwards, the bleach taste will be gone. There really shouldn't be anything in there that could hurt you, but if you are that paranoid about it do the bleach thing. Antibacterial soap will kill most bacteria, but not viruses and other microbes. Chlorine bleach is the only substance known to kill viruses when cleaning. In reality, you could probably just rinse it out and drink out of it. There are probably worse things growing on your kitchen counter than are in that bottle. Just a little info from your HAMB biologist.
