After reading CustomCarPainters post I got to thinkin...if a guy had some biz'ness smarts he could sell stuff at let's say 5-10% over his cost to any HAMBer and still make a couple a few bux and at the same time save some guys a few bux.

I'm not saying that he should promote his store on this board!!!!

Word of mouth between members (or would that be type between members) that he owns a shop and if you tell him you're one of the guys (or gals) you'll get a discounted price. I'm sure we would be a small part of his business but from what I've seen here... a LOYAL part of his business.

Let the mullets and gold chainers pay the rent & 'lectric bill while the HAMBers supply the beer and pizza money.

I unfortunately do not have a bizness or sense! But on the other hand I need parts and would rather give my money to someone that is on this board with a family to feed than some kid behind the desk at Summit or on the phone at Total P. workin' for a some guy that forgot what it's all about. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif

I know I'll hear shit about having people promote business here but that's not what I'm talking 'bout! I'm talking about about a fellow rodder (Hot or Kustom) helpin' another rodder out by either given him a price break or by sendin' his dough to a guy that is in the biz for love not to become a millionare.

That's one of the good things about message boards. They are another oppertunity to network.

I used to run a printshop that did simple printing. Word got around and I started doing at least two print jobs a week for HAMB or HotRod types, usually at a signifigant discount. And, if it was easy for my shop to do, we did it. Some things like the HAMB Calender were beyond the shop's abilities, but the flyers, signs, and businesscards that a lot of you guys have were just a sliver of the shops business, easy for us to do, and usually highly appreciated by the recipient.

Sorta like Industrial Chassis offering dropped beams to HAMBers before the rest of the world heard about it, and then offering a discount to the HAMB community before the news was too widespread.

That's exactly what it's about man...I worked for one of those millionare guys at an HD dealership. Somehow I always managed to shave a little off my labor and forget a couple of gaskets on the workorder for a patch holder (no matter what patch). With HD's you wouldn't beleive the goldchainers in that group. Besides if you can't change a sparkplug in yer scoot then you deserve to pay (unless you show titties in the service area). http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Curly,I'd be willing to work some kinda deal with fellow HAMBers, but I have to find the company who will make me the best possible deal AND not take forever delivering the goods. No one wants to lay out hard earned cash and then wait forever for their parts to show up.I'm just in the early stages of this right now.
