This is kind of a belated inrtoduction. I've posted a few questions and shared a little information and lurked here for quite awhile.
My name is Tim and I live in a small town Casey, in east central Illinois. I graduated from high school forty years ago in '67. Went to college then stayed in my home town and worked in both oilfield related trades as well as automotive venues. I've never been married but after 52 years finally found a gal who shares my love of old cars.
I've been around cars since the '50s and have owned Lord only knows how many. My interests have most always been with Chevys. My first car was a '57 2 door hardtop. I migrated from tri-five Chevys to Chevelles, then to mid year Vettes back in the mid seventies. I didn't seem to fit in with the mega ego Vette clan! Then I ventured into '67-'72 Chevy trucks and played with them for nearly a decade. I still have an all original '72 big block short bed truck. About six years ago, I got back into Chevelles. At the present time I have three '67 Chevelles, a 38,000 mile two door sedan, a full option original wagon and a full option big block El Camino. I have always liked original cars and some friends have given me the nickname OEM Tim.
With 40 plus years of Chevy experience, I have a strong background in the history and a large library of parts and service information. If I can help anyone with information please feel free to contact me.
I found the HAMB by searching for information and quite often was referred to the HAMB. Lots of great information here. Now, it's very helpful with my latest project which may eventually qualify me as a true HAMBER.
I'm building a '41 Ford pickup, dedicating it to my father. My theme for the truck is '50s/'60s with the original front axle, later 8" Ford rear with parallel leaf springs. I'm powering it with a '65 327 backed by a 2004R overdrive. No power steering or power brakes. The interior will have an original headliner and a tuck and roll pleated cut down S-10 seat. I'm going non traditional with a tilt column,AC and overdrive trans because I'm going to use the truck as a daily driver. I want to paint the truck an original green that looks faded with my dad's business name and old phone number(335Z) on the doors. He was a drilling contractor in the '40s and '50s so it will have oilfield type pipe bumpers front and rear. I'm building the truck in my shop and it should be ready early this summer.
OK, enough about me. I'm just a 58 year old kid who is trying to remember the good ole days!
