Thanks to JimA, I attended the Goodguys show here in KC. I'm the first to admit that this isn't the kinda show that I really enjoy, but my wife and I had a blast. Gorgeous weather and a lot of cars I've never seen before. Had a really good time... Here's a few shots.

Great cars. I enjoy the hell out of the Goodguys shows; if nothing else I get to see some friends once a year. Usually some high quality cars and good ideas.

JEEZUS! That little pick up looks like it would eat your children if given the chance.

I heard the Kansas Speedway is killer. Good place for a Goodieguys. BUT. It's hard to beat the DesMoines show. Lots of trees to drink beer under.

PS. Ryan. Did you see any of those Pharaohs homos?

Thanks for the photos, Ryan.
My vote goes to the little black coupe beside the pickup.

Ryan, thanks for the pic of the 49 Ford Coupe.
Those and the 50's are my all time favorites.
Borrowed the pic for my screen saver.

Darned screen saver has so many cool pics that sometimes guys who come over to visit sit down at the computer and just watch the show go by.

Give em a cold one and they're lost to the world....

That black coupe would kick your ass.....ask me how I know!

Alfster, I never noticed the six spoke cragers...I've never seen a set either. Maybe some that were made for chevy trucks? I've never heard of it but I guess it could be possible....it would have to be a six lug pattern though..I wonder if Cragar could have made some at the beginning of the mini-truck era...late '70's, when Chevy Luvs and Toyotas were the six lug pattern...

Anyone got any info on the motorcyle hauling flatbed? Looks like suicide doors on it...also some odd wheels...maybe heavy duty running gear?

Here's a sign for the motorcycle hauling truck from the HD event in Milwaukee. It was on display in the Summerfest area.

I wish I did have more pictures of the blue club coupe... and 49 to 50 club coupes are one of my favorite body styles as well. I'd love to find a good runner decently priced.

This particular car had a 265 sbc and a powerglide I believe...

The gold 29 dodge pick up belongs to Russ Egelston from colberg iowa. Four years ago it was a rusty four door. It is home built. There are cobwebs on the fender braces as well as the tailgate. Front fenders are 36 ford tire band, rears have the same bead down the center. Little truck kicked butt at its daybue at desmoines gg. Cal

One more use for a Corvair...

The headlight surrounds in the gold P'up are from a late Corvair. they also look good flipped (pointy end up) in 55-56 Ford fenders.

Boones, I wasn't there this year but I can give you my thoughts on the subject from last year and since I know you've been to Charlotte that's what I'd compare it to. But, there is no poker run to the speed shops, they did the cruzn on the track during day lite hours instead of under the lites, and there really wasn't hopping nite time activity like Charlotte. In fact, the host hotel had a security guard who prevented folks who weren't staying at their hotel, from parking in the same area with the other hot rods. I guess we were suppose to feel lucky to even be able to enter their parking lot.

But like Charlotte, there was ALOT of room to actually cruz around while at the event. You weren't all cramped up and on top of each other like Indy. There were quite a few HAMB folks that I met in person for the first time. Everyone was friendly and outgoing EXCEPT for one track worker who was directing traffic. He was making everyone LEAVE the infield after their turn on the track. It was approx 5pm and friends that rode with me were still on the infield taking photos. He wanted me to leave and come back later and pick them up! If Johnny Walker wouldn't have come up and told him I could turn right and head to my friends instead of turning left to head out that he wanted me to, I'm sure it would have turned more nasty then it was. It's funny how something so trival can put a bad taste in ones mouth regarding an event.

The main reason I went was to see some of my friends that were going, that live in NE, IA, KS and Winnipeg that I don't get to see too often. If they weren't attending, the show wouldn't be worth the 12+ hours of driving time for me.

If your asking for other fun shows to attend that are out of your immediant area, check out Back to the 50's in St Paul, MN, in June, Syarcuse, NY in July, and Cruzn the Coast in Biloxi, MS in Oct.

Thanks Ryan for posting those photos. I really enjoyed them.

Cools pics...
Is the blower set up on the gold pick up fake?
The manifold looks like it's home made out of sheet metal... and the carbs aren't 97's and I don't see any linkage...

I had a great time, I've been going to GoodGuys Iowa show for years and thought it couldnt be topped but Kansas City show might be close... and its even in my own back yard! Plus I got to meet Jim A, nice guy and working hard.
Couple pics to add of a nice 36 convert.

Yes, the gold pickup causes a stir each time I see it. It's TOTALLY homebuilt for the grand sum of 6,200 dollars! DAMN!
The engine is an old barn find with little invested except a lot of elbow grease, Russ was a little shocked when the first thing I asked was if there was a carb in the blower case, but yes there is. Had some cool shots of it in the Des Moines Gazette, will be a lot more in the Kansas issue.
Thanks for coming out Ryan, Chris and all the rest of you, it was a great weekend. I even made a great swap meet find of a super cherry pair of '29 Sedan rear fenders, but I also may be getting a complete turn key finished closed cab '29 pickup in a couple weeks in Texas.

P.S.- those are FIVE spoke Cragers, I don't know what's up with the optical illusion.

Does anyone know about the wheels on the Blue shoebox? Are those smoothies without the babymoon covers? That is the look I want for my '51 Ford. Anyone know if the reversed smoothies will work and still allow me to change my tires?

the blower on the truck is a fake, it's running a four barrel under the blower.

I agree with you on the 'vert.

Did you see the forty pickup that had the molded in S10 bed with the Taurus drive and dash?? It came in kinda late, I didn't care for the dash, but the paint and finish was awesome. I think they had some mechanical problems and they told me that the drive had a gazillion miles on it.

I'm not sure I've got any pics, if I do I'll post them.

Brootal, I think that they are no longer on Ryan's server after 2 months. I don't think that he can store all the pix that everyone uploads to his pocket book (AKA:website).
