My name is Mike...hello Mike...

My current project is a '36 Ford pu, will be running a 5.0/AOD. Haven't figured out exactly what to do with the front and rearend yet...but have some ideas I'm toying with from the donor car ('93 Cougar with IRS).

Past history for me in rodding...Im been through too many F-bodies to count and several 55-9 Chevy PU's.

Only thing I have left these days is my '57 3100 with a LS5 454 from a '70 Vette/TH400, my '89 IROC and now beginnng on my '36. I do have a '42 Ford PU, but will just run it standard with the FHV8.

Anyway, great to find a site like this, I've been going through all the old archives and message boards, seems like there are some real knowledgable folks around here.

Welcome from another guy named Mike, where in California are you? Leave the IFS/IRS on the donor and send it to the crusher.........the ride wont be that much better and its way more work. Post some pics of the project.

lol.I'm in Oakdale...just bought the Cougar from a guy in Sonora:)

Problem is I can't run the 5.0/AOD in the '36 with the original frontend...and...have the engine sit where I want it. Even if I were to set the firewall back, I'd have to keep the engine/tranny high enough in order to access the tranny pan..due to the wishbone.

The IFS gives me the clearance I need for the front sump 5.0...and eliminates the wishbones so I can change the tranny fluid and filter and set the engine back and low in the chassis, Otherwise I either have to sit everything up too high (for my liking) or split the wishbone and bring them back towards the frame rails.

This old truck was made for a SBC...but I want to run the 5.0 in it....I like a Ford in a Ford, etc...even though I'm a Chevy guy.

Thanks for the welcomes:)
