View Full Version : Speedometer Cable Compatability??
Howdy all Tim here. I have a question about cable compatability and also calibration....I am running a torque tube with the stock speedo gear in it. It is from a 40 ford truck. My speedo is from a 41 Pontiac....is there any way that this is going to work? How about how the cable connects in the back of the speedo? Was the thread standardized at all? What has been done in HAMB-land? Any help on this would be great.
Thanks
Tim

I think the back of the speed-O is pretty standard til the mid sixties. Seems the inside cables are all the same, I've changed ends many times..........OLDBEET

Once in a while you will find the rotation is wrong, speed-O shops have a little gearbox that will change rotation. They also have a 90o end if your speed-O is too close to the firewall and you don't want that hole showing.......OLDBEET
