Those all can't be Cincy cars, can they?
Man, I had no idea that there were ANY rods in Cinci... I Did 5 years, uh, I mean I had the pleasure of living there for 5 years, and don't remember seeing anything but an occasional Corvette show... I think I could have stood living there if I knew that there was that type of stuff there...

Nice Ride...

Does Bob Oney still have the sweet little 34 3window that he had in about 95? I think he gave 50 bucks or somthing crazy like that for it!

That car had the look.
He was trad when trad wasnt cool....or at least the majority didnt think so!!

When did Josh add those wiggly squiggly's to the sedan?
I met Josh at the Col's Goodguys in 02'.
He took some pics of our sedans nose to nose.

Assdragger - Oney sold that a year after he built it. He blew the quickchange in about a month. He said he paid too much for the body after he started working on it. If it wasn't for Bondo, the body could have passed for tinfoil. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif I believe it was a '33 - he's got a thang for '33's. You're talking about the one with the checkerboard firewall aren't you? He actually painted that car before he sold it.

Wade Hughes Hot Rods is on the west side of town. It is probably a 45 minute drive from Anderson.

There are more cool traditional and rat rod cars and trucks in Cincy. We are fortunate in that there are a lot of nice cars here. Just about any night of the week you can find a cruise in or car show. We have a local cruise in that draws 400 + cars every Friday night.

I find this all real ironic because Kartbreaker and I were born and raised in Cincy and just moved away two years ago and there was noone around. The only cool traditional stuff was really only Josh Shaw and Kartbreaker, and they ironicially knew each other and hung out occassionally. Just goes to show how the "craze" is really taking over all over. Guess I'm glad to see Cincy starting to grow a lil'.

In the early nineties, you could count the rods with Bias wide whites on one hand, with fingers left over. But it wasn't just in Cincy. Rodder's Digest, to my surprise, pictured my car from the '92 and '93 Nats with comments on how tradtional cars looked great, and predicted they would become popular. When I took off on my "tour" in '95, tradtional rods were still few, with the majority of them in California. Those cars were owned by older guys who never saw a reason to change what they liked. It took the younger guys a while to see them, and appreciate the simplicity of design and appearance. Once the magazines began to show them, it caught on, and the rest is history.

Ratster,

I won't be in Knoxville this year. Too much going on. I know a lot of the guys from the club are going down. I know thw T-bird is on the mend and is supposed to be at a show here in Sharonville this weekend. I don't know the whole story but the T-bird had a little crushtamizing.

I will have to get the rest of the details.

Erik -I guess I need to get back to Cincy and see what's going on. I could have sworn he told me he sold it at the Middletown Frisch's cruise in the mid 90's. I've been in Floriduh too long - maybe I'm getting CRS. Thanks.

If you get back to Cincy this year let me know. By the way, dad was in the hospital last weekend with an infected gaul bladder. He went in Thursday night and went home Tuesday. They are going to remove the gaul bladder in the next 4 to 6 weeks. He is feeling a little better now.

Damn! I grew up in Cincy but moved to Boston about 10 years ago. Things were definitely not as hoppin' back then. Glad to see such an awesome turnout. I go back to visit family pretty often so keep me posted on any cool events if you can.
