It's a sub-progess report... a beautiful but windy day, I'm waiting on the frame's primer to dry before puttin' on the paint, while trying to be ready for a manifold swap when my neighbor gets home (to help heave the beast onto its new home).
The weather (the first non-rainy day since...?) has got me cagey, even for Spring, otherwise the swap would've been done days ago.

The things we do while trying get the bed 'n fenders (in the garage) done... Rust-proofed, primered, 15 minutes away from paint. At least she'll benefit from it, especially with the chromie rear traction bars going over those leaf springs...

Thrilling, no? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif I'm happy with the progress, anyway. When's the next time I'll have this much access to it? It, uh, doesn't look as pixelated in real life...

It's a bitch keeping it clean underneath the valley pan, when a tree is budding over it. Can't wait to put that GT390 in there, though. Gotta head back out, just had to put these out. There's a quite a few progress reports popping up 'round here lately, it's way-cool to see, I was worried I was alone in spending Spring still working on this thing.

ok,i'm confused.why did you get a cast iron intake for your FE when there are so many good aluminum manifolds out there? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Good question, Yorg; it was a matter of funds-available and what was available at the time of needing it. I had no idea the swap (or moreso: pinning down my gf's son for finishing the carb rebuild) would take as long as it did.
But there will be a second FE I'll be building to the side, a CJ actually, and will get the Edelbrock cam 'n intake combo for that one. For this one, the lifters were the main prob, figured now would be the time to do the 4-barrel conversion, since it involves taking the mani off.
Besides, it'll be neat to see how the GT does, I think. I could be disappointed, but for a $100 + shipping manifold, it's worth a shot. Good question, though, I'd begun to wonder it myself, as things get tight.
I'd just gotten some mock-up pics of the manifold 'n carb, and between the garage and computer the cam ate 'em. Dammit, gotta get ready for Work, anyway.
