what does a closed thread mean? sorry im new to this

It means that no one can respond to it but it is still viewable.

Typically a moderator will close a thread when they feel the thread has little merit or may draw flies.

Closed threads are usually closed instead of deleted in hopes that someone will read the thing and not feel compelled to start their own on the same subject.
