Holley blue top fuel pump

I need a new electric fuel pump or a set of ear plugs. A buddy of mine traded me a Holley blue top fuel pump w/ regulator. Thought I had a deal till the sucker was wired up. Don't know that I really need a 110 gph hour pump but I do know I don't need a electric fuel pump that makes that much racket. A mechanical fuel pump is not an option. No room. Engine is 351W with 770cf carb developing 400 plus HP. Pump needs to be an external electrical fuel pump.
Any suggestions?

Any electric pump is gonna make some noise! The more mundane Carter ones are a little quieter than the Holley blue, but you'll still hear it when you flip the switch or key on!

Remember to mount it as close to the TANK as possible. This aids in function, and will also position the pump behind the passenger compartment in most cases.

The only way to get a quieter electric pump might be to run an in-tank design similar to an OEM unit, such as on the Chevy Vega and Monza. (Modern EFI pumps generate WAY too much pressure for carbureted engines. They can be regulated down to 5-7psi, but it's not the best way to go.).

If you decide to keep the holley, mount it on a rubber pad. When I had one on an old pickup, I cut a chunk out of the sidewall of an old tire, doubled it over and mounted it on that. It still made noise but it toned the thing down quite a bit.

Sound proof it. Rubber mount an enclosure (ammo can), Get some bulk head fittings and hose. Then there's the old get a louder radio. Tim

I use to run a Holley Blue fuel pump on my race car. It ended up costing me a motor. This was a NEW one too. It stopped flowing at about the 1/8 mile and then started working again. There goes a motor. I'll never run a Holley Blue again, never. I have an old one in my tool box and it will never see the light of day again. Since then I've heard nothing but horror stories about them from other racers.
Yes, they are loud, they are met to be used on race cars where you couldn't hear them if you wanted to because of the headers.
You also need to run a fuel pressure regulator with it to make sure you don't have too much pressure to the carb.
My advice to you is to get rid of it and get one that is quieter that doesn't push 110 gph when you don't need it.

ive used carter electric fuel pumps for years... havent had a problem.
they are quieter than the Holley blue, 'specailly if you mount them on bushings... but you can still hear it.

The insulated ammo box is a good idea...

Thanks for the comments and the suggestions. Think I'll try insulating the mounts first then box it up if required.

A Holley blue pump is like a Bic lighter. Will work for a while then just quits... toss it. I had one being used for fuel enrichment with nitrous. It quit at the wrong time and cost me a motor too.
Walbro has some cool in-line pumps that will be quieter. I think someone here works there (Fuelpump??) Maybe try that route.
