i made the ego-rama semi finals !

i just got a e-mail and i made the ego-rama semi finals too. wouldn't it be killer if we have a hamb filled ego-rama this year! that's what we need, all six finalists from the hamb.

Congratulations!

The editors of Rod & Custom magazine have selected your car as one of 20
semi-finalists in
the Asphalt Ego-Rama competition. The photo and description of your car
which you submitted
will appear in the September '04 issue of R&C (on sale June 22), along with
the other semi-finalists.
R&C readers will vote for the six finalists who will compete in Asphalt
Ego-Rama. We will contact
the six finalists by August 6.

Those finalists will participate in a one-week road trip beginning in San
Francisco on October 6 and
ending in Los Angeles on October 12. Most of the event will be spent highway
driving, stopping at various
points of interests (including famous rod shops and manufacturers, scenic
spots, a car show, and a dragstrip).
During this week, the Rod & Custom staff will evaluate each car in the
following categories:

Driveability (comfort, ride, etc.)
Engineering (how well the car is built)
Gas Mileage
Price (budget)
People's Choice (determined at a one-day car show we will attend)
Acceleration (private 1/4-mile time trials at a dragstrip)
Braking (60-0 mph, done at the dragstrip)
Cornering (determined on a private slalom course)
Style Points (sportsmanship, etc.)

Although it is a "competition", the point of the Asphalt Ego-Rama is to have
fun,
and to participate in an R&C magazine article.

R&C will reserve hotel accomodations during the course of the event, but
participants are
responsible for all of their own expenses (hotel, gas, food, etc), just like
on Americruise, Power Tour,
and other events.

Thank you for entering the Asphalt Ego-Rama competition. Look for the
official ballot
in the September issue and don't forget to vote for yourself.

I can say for certain that the R&C staff picks up on almost all the "ballot stuffing"... and I also believe that they throw the "stuffed ballots" out with some legit ballots too... I know when I got in people sent ballots in... and a lot of them... but when we were at the show in AZ... and HAMB'ers were stuffing the people's choice box... they picked up on it, and therefore I lost out on that part of the competition.

I also heard about some ballot stuffing that went on at one of the big car shows last year... and although they didn't tell me who it was, they said that that person probably did not get voted into the Ego-Rama because of it...

So my advice is... vote... have your friends vote... have your momma vote, your dead uncle... but DO NOT vote twice!!

Anyway, CONGRATS to those that got in the Semis!!!!

I didn't mean to insinuate that Jerry... but what you said segued into the need for someone to warn people about putting more than one ballot per person in a box at a show... it sucks, because someone who otherwise probably would have made it in... didn't.

Anyway, when the HAMB helped me get in... I got around 200 votes or so... which was more than all the others put together! The power of te HAMB in action!!
