No pics, cutting steel this week.
We have '29 A front end, Winters QC, motor, seat out of a Cat D8, wheels, tires, tranny and some odds and ends.
Best I have at this time (drawing not finished yet.) Laid out for 125" WB 600-15 fronts, G78-15 rears. Roll cage 1-3/4" x .118 mild steel tube with front, side and rear supports.

Mine came out to 128" and change with out even trying. Alot depends on how you mount the front and rear axels I guess.

Our club driver Rebstew preferred we make it longer than the original 115" I designed it at. He felt the additional length made it safer. Using 2"X3"X3/16" for the rails only made it weigh 6-1/2 #'s more;) Who am I to argue cause safety is paramount to us all.

Your absolutely right about the safety if the driver feels comfortable with 115 or 130 so be it. I was just curious, our first car was 115 and the second car is 120. Both goes straight as a string.

Just in regards to the numbers/builders etc, any chance we can add to the decription what powerplant they run, and maybe later on, some more statistics (like ET & speed)?
interesting thus far, where's all the 'build' threads?
Cheers,

Each team really should put up a build thread on each car. If Anybody needs help with posting photos, etc, send me a PM.

I have been thinking that myself. It would sure help the builder of a new car.
What are you thinking? Car , number, wheelbase, engine, gear ratio, tire height, weight ( if known) What else??
Maybe multiple pictures of different angles etc.
Maybe a single thread of all the registered cars , progress ET's from previous races etc.
Is Hiney still the quickest ????:D At 12.43- 106mph ???

Over the holidays I'd also had the idea for a "Stats" thread for the class.
To that end I recently inquired of Ryan about the possibility of a "sticky" (correct terminology?) thread here on the HA/GR site for that purpose.
I'm thinking of a general spec sheet of some sort, a single photo and links to more at the will of the posters.
I also suggest limiting the responses to PMs to keep the base thread uncluttered.
Your idea of independantly posted threads covering our builds is a great one, is there a way they could be organized for handy reference? A link in the proposed "Stats" thread posting of each car to its build thread would work of course but it doesn't exist as yet, so is there another way to "catalogue'em? Sadly, I'm not computer literate enough to be of any specific help.
How 'bout it, anyone ?
CRAP, I wish I didn't type so damnably SLOW!

Well, that was quick. Thanks, Ryan.
Gentlemen, Ryan's agreed to do a thread for this idea. Would you title the posts by car name & number first or by team name first?
as .......
Team Geezerspeed, Barn Job #18
or ........
Barn Job #18, Team Geezerspeed
I think I like the latter myself, I tend to think of the car first. What say the rest of you?

To keep the ball rolling as such, I'd propose one thread containing the following....
* Car No./Name, Team Name:
* Engine/G'Box/Diff:
* Current E.T. & Speed (Note the Driver & place):
(Note: this would be 'sticky' type thread which would only contain the appropriate info above, updated by the user as appropriate)
And people can create a seperate/individual 'build/development' thread as they desire, illustrating any particulars, recommendations, improvements etc.
This is something which I feel will achieve two things,
1. allow new, interested potential builders/racers to see what already exists, and get a 'feel' of where we(as a group) are 'at'
2. it also assists those of us who already have cars, to 'keep tabs' on what's happening as these types of cars increase in popularity, and to also encourage new growth based on our experiences and understanding.
The above may sound 'namby-pamby', but I really believe that a formal listing, as well as individual build threads will see the 'class' grow in leaps and bounds.
Cheers,
Drewfus

Hi Guys,
Aussie FNG here and ready to get involved!
As I have mentioned in my intro a while back I have a '54 Ford Truck. It is flathead powered (apparently not uncommon in Australia to have 54s with flatties). It is a short wheel base truck with original duals on rear.
I have big plans for resto of truck but it will be a long way off, so I plan to use the drive train (and possibly front axle) for a Hambster build.
I am yet to contact Drewfus so I will refrain from nominating a number until I check in with the Aussie Hambsters.
HA/GR No. ??

HA/GR's don't require car numbers. You can number your car anything you want. The SDRA broke away from the HAMB rules to form their own group. They are based in Oklahoma. HA/GR is gasoline only at this time.
