everyone has been mentioning to me that I shoudl use cabinet locks on my vent windows for shaved handles. what kind of lock are they talkign about? ones where I drill a hole for a lock to be inserted? one that just clamps on? never seen anyone with that around here....

Never trust anyone who can't show you one on HIS car. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I removed the vent lock on my car when I shaved the door handles. I never did use door actuators, just reached thru the window, or thru the vent if the windows were up....Toqwik

well right now and for the past three years I have had no outside handles and just reach in (just don't latch windows) but I am wanting to get a stereo back in the car and I do live in the dorms so a car left in a parking lots for days on end worries me. also seeing how all it takes is a jumper wire to hotwire my car a way to lock it would be nice...

btw the car is getting a turbo six and five speed this summer...

Trying to find my housemates Digital Camera Right now.
My daily driver has shaved locks...Replaced the 1/4 Vent Glass with 4mm Perspex..(you cant tell it's not glass without shoving on it)... Drilled the Squared off hole in it and installed a basic Chrome Cabinet Lock (this one off a small cash box from the local hardware)... Just pushes into the hole and locks with a heavy steel clip that come with thr cash box...Tight fit so it's all very secure. If im desperate ands loose the key i will just break the 1/4 perspex and make a new one whan i get home.

If someone wants to break into my car it takes 5 seconds with a coathanger anyhow...just stops passerbys from pushing the window open and nicking shit. have the stereo and everything hidden under the dash.

Cast my $5 and gives me piece of mind. You dont even really see it.

Cheers http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I've never seen this done, but it sounds logical (and cheap).
Are these the locks you're talking about?

Big A ! They're the ones!
Mines in the lower Back corner..turns and locks against the 1/4 vent 'post'.
