Do you have to cut these into halves then reweld?

that type scares me a bit, the weight of the entire car is resting on that one weld on the bolt...
most cut the axle flanges off the rearend then slip em on....
or
cut off the backside of the bracket and throw it in the scrap pile...

sure looks like it, probably meant for when you shorten your axle, stick em on while its apart.

But what about the guys who paid good money for em and plan to install em on their unnarrowed housings? I have never looked at a set up close. I will probably fab my own.
Cut em in half and weld em back together during the installation.
One of the thoughts about doing it that way is you get weld heat around the circumference of the axle tube and since it's been heated about the same amount all the way round, warpage is supposed to be less.
Even with the axle flanges off they can be a bitch to get on as the axle tubes aren't perfectly round or smooth and you can end up doing a bit of grinding on the bracket.
I see a lot of this style bracket used on coupes and roadsters as well as T-Buckets and they seem to work just fine.

like C9 said, cut the spring hangers and the ladder bar brakets in two and weld it all together.i've done this to these brackets from Pete & Jakes and have never had a problem
