A really good friend of my Dad's has a 36 five window Ford with a 57 Y-block in it. Its got a factory (1957) dual quad intake, and his carbs are giving him fits.

A Y-block guru said that HRM ran a story about tuning these that is probably the best ever written. It was printed in 1957 (he thinks it was summer) My searches of the internet have yeilded nothing. Thusly, I turn to the guys and gals that have always had the answers to my questions.

Anyone got an old magazine they can copy for me? Anyone know of a good website that might be of help?

Thanks in advance! Mike.

just wondering...if you know....how did he go about putting the Y-block in the 36...is it open driveline? or did he just adapt the flathead tranny to the Y-block?

if you know...donlt go to any extra effort to find out...its not a big deal right now....my 37 is a looong way off

I knew you could do it! I think I saw the September issue on Ebay (I thought of that after I posted) I might check back there and just buy him the magazine if you can't get it scanned. If you can, PM me, and I'll get my info to ya!

I'll check with Jim on Monday to see what exactly has been done to the 36. I guess the car was built in the early 60s but I'm sure we can figure it out!

Thanks again! Mike!
