When going from the cannister type oil filter to the spin on adapter do you leave out the spring and the valve? If you leave it in does the oil pressure build up too high before going into the engine?

No, you change nothing in the oil pump.
Oil Pumps have a "Pressure relief valve" that operates against a spring, which at a factory determined line pressure, pushes the spring and bleads off pressure.

i think he means the spring and bypass valve that is inside the oil filter cannister....NOT THE OIL PUMP....yes,you leave that in....did you get instructions with that spin on adapter?
