Who knows anything about Johnson's Hot Rod Shop in Gadsden?

Owned/operated by Alan Johnson...first car out several years ago was a Ridler contender... blue'34 roadster with a hemi if I remember correctly...built a nice '61 Chevy wagon that hit several magazines...don't know him personally, but the work i've seen of his is first-rate. That what you were looking for?

I've been there... he has a nice set up... and a nice bunch of guys too. Lots of his work is running around on the streets in that area too... all I've seen have been really nice.

Here's another question for the Alabama guys... is there anything happening Memorial Day weekend? I'm flying home that weekend... I suppose I'll go to Holiday Beach on Saturday night unless there is something better to do. Also, when is the show at the Saginaw plant this year?

The Saginaw show will be on 10 July. Last year 2000 cars and 100 swapmeet vendors and lots of door prizes. If you make it to the show I will be in the swap meet area look for a small HAMB sign. I will have liquid refreshments. I am trying to get Sam from Rocco and Cheaters to come and set up. I will check on Memorial Day and post.Bobby..

Sammy usually can't do that kind of stuff cuz he has to be at the races... I wish I could get him to have a killer party at Rocco and Cheaters... I love that place!

Alan is a really good guy, incredible talent and is always up for a new challenge. Congratulations on the job at Johnsons Hot Rod Shop, you won't have to worry about not having anything to do, they have a backlog of projects going. Alan has the reputation of building the high tech contemporary rods, but
he drives a very traditional full fendered primer 28-A truck with bent spoke Kelseys that has a killer stance. I will see if I still have a photo of it.

You'll love the area... Gadsden is really nice. And now you'll get to go to my favorite swap... at Noccolula Falls... lots of shade trees to walk around under... makes summertime car shows/swaps way more bearable. And you get to go to the show at the Saginaw plant too! Cool. I can tell ya I really miss Alabama... as much fun as I'm having out here in Vegas, there's nothing to compare to the trees and lakes of Alabama.

Not meaning to hijack your post but to answer Gracie. I can find no shows
locally on memorial weekend. As for Sam at the Saginaw show as of now he has a open weekend with no races.I talked to Sam about your show idea and this fall he might have a show type event at thr RC shop

Congrats on the job cuzin customcarpainter. Tony told me at the Bham model show that they were covered up with something like 5 32's plus everything else. Had I known before Thanksgiving I could have showed up and helped a little.(I was off work with pay 7-8 wks Nov-Mar).Tell Tony that I will bring him some Wild Willie Borsch kits to Bowling Green and call me if he needs anything else. I was on my way to this when I grenaded my 700r4 in front of the Jetport.
The Point Mallard show is on Saturday. Last year close to 200 cars. Daisy my little girl and I always go to Pt Mallard and Saginaw and bring her Purple 36 Stroller out. Noccolula Falls in 03 was the biggest ever, unfortunetly it is the same weekend as NHRA HR Reunion in Bowling Green. Kind of like Nats South and NHRA in Commerce, GA always the same weekend.

Hey Bobby, You need to post some old pics of my/your old 46 Ford. I just drove it to Texas to the Lonestar Roundup in Austin 2000 mile round trip.I had a blast. I had to put a new rear upper shock mount crossmember in it before I left. The old one just wore out from all the driving I do in it. I know I've put at least 50K-60K miles on since 94.
I have taken some pictures of a 33/34 5W round tracker I found you probably know all about it, but I should have them developed by the time I see you. Maybe I can post them on here some time. Later, Mike

Hey, K9, where is Point Mallard? Is it anywhere near B'ham, or up north?
Thanks, Kinky6.

Point Mallard is in Decatur, It is a State Park approx 10 Miles from I65.You will see a Point Mallard sign exit 334. I might be off a mile or so on that no.if coming from south or 340 if coming from the north Go to state Hwy 31 turn by McDonalds and there will be lots of signs. The car show is at the very back of the area it has lots of shade. Dont stop at the Tractor show. They also have Hot Air Baloon races. Lots of traffic if your auto runs hot bring water to cool in traffic.
