When I built the A, I was trying to put thing together with what I had available. Now I'm trying to fine tune stuff, and improve the ride before Paso. The rear spring sits in the original postion above the axle, and is off an A sedan. I removed the top two short leaves, cut a few, and put them at the bottom of the pack. The spring is still WAY too stiff. I'm thinking of putting a Poses Super slider under the rear and get it over with.

Question: Poses only makes one spring for Model A rears- But Ford made a different spring for Sedans, Roadsters, etc. Do you recommend their spring? My car is pretty light in the back...

What spring are you running?

Thanks,

jay

Have you cleaned up the leaves on a belt sander? Chamfered the ends? You can really tell teh difference in ride quality. Also, look at the new Street Rodder with the Airflow on the cover, there is an article about Teflon kingpin bushings. Same company makes Teflon buttons for a stock spring.

A roadsters only had seven leaves. I run five leaves in my roadster with teflon and grease. Try different combos until you find one that works for your car. You'll never get the same ride as you're used to on the family car. In the old days they called it the roadster bump, so I'm told. These hot rods are way too light to have the same spring rate as the original cars.

I run 5 leaves in mine (31 on 32 frame, A spring). Rounded and radiused the ends and put in spring liner with the lip. Rides great! No need for Posie.

model a springs seem to be harsh no matter what you do, thats there nature by the time you get a nice ride it will be way to soft ,knife edge and some grease like was said , about all you can do...the more short leaves you take out , the more it unlocks the spring

the posie model A spring is de-arched 2-1/2" from stock .and only comes with reversed eyes,so it will make your car much lower. then it WILL settle at least another inch or two after you drive it. stay with the original A spring.

Good advice fellers!

I'd rather spend the money on something else for the car...
