I took my radiator in to be repaired for what seems like a long time ago. How fruggin long does it take to tear one apart?

She, yes the repairman is, well not a man. She has a reputation for great work and she handles ALL of the details for you - she even paints the rebuilt radiators semi gloss for you. However I dropped off the rad a looong time ago and she said she'd call me after she tore into it to tell if it was worth rebuilding and which way she was going to do it. Sort of a - heads-up this is going to be more expensive to do than buying new - kind of deal...

Plus (I guess) the rad can be built the "old fashioned" way or the new tech way. This is regarding the fin design and rows. I told her "Just make my damn car stop running hot and I'll be happy, if someone notices a detail like that they can go piss up a rope."

So how long should I wait before I start bugging her about it? I mean I am expecting other parts this week to complete the mini-project so that I can road test this bitch. I missed out on driving this car most of last year. I am hot to trot.

Not too sure what a "looong time" is in Iowa, but I'd be asking after a week or so.....squeaky wheel, ya know.

BTW, when you say you can't wait to road test the bitch, are you talking about the radiator repair woman???? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Local store had my Buick's radiator done in 2 days. Course mine was simple, looks like yours might be complex. I'd say a week would be plenty, then call and check on it.

Hey Broman,I work at a radiator repair shop (PICKARTS RADIATOR, pickrad.com) We can build a complete custom in about a week, same for a recore.A repair shouldn't take more than a day, depending on how busy.As for the style,I have a 4 row high efficiency X-rad in mine.Total cost for complete custom rebuild $450. Half the time the elec. fan don't even kick in.It COOLS awesome.
Good Luck

Thanks for your input guys.

Sorry it took so long to reply, I forgot all about this post - it was on page 20 or something...I just found it.

It's been way more than a week. I should get squeaky now I guess. I was just told by my brother that when he was working in a repair garage they'd get their stuff done in one day (usually the same day for newer cars). They got all of their stuff done through the same lady who is doing mine.

Looks like I should have sent my stuff to Scallop53.....HAMB supporting HAMB y'know?

I am still waiting on a water pump from Kanter too, so I got some time.
