Hi
I see that Kanter sells a "block" gasket kit for the ford flathead 6 226 (H series 1950). You can get Anyone know who the actual manufacturer is? can i get it anywhere other than Kanter?

By the way, my local napa cat find the kit in their books.. but the found all kinds of other stuff for it.. cap , rotor, points, condensor.. all on shelf... i was floored :-)

Thanks

Have you napa dealer call the tech line. They should be able to get it from fel pro.

When I went to get one Vintage Ford parts had the best price but were always out of stock so I got one from CW Moss.check your local vintage Ford parts store first...
The distributor is the same thru 60s Falcon sixes I think, so parts are common.

Egge is your best bet for the gasket set, they can get it quickly and it is a good set. C.W. Moss only had one last time I was there and they don't plan on ordering more I don't think. Joblot Auto in NY should have the gaskets too. Call Egge first, they will probably be able to get it pretty quick.

Those are nice smooth motors, still like them.
Years ago at an antique boat meet I saw a couple of these motors with 2-deuce manifolds and nice finned heads, magnetos, one of the heads was ual plugged too.
If I still had one I would look at antique speed boat swaps and websites...
I think these were pretty popular boat motors in the mid west, Michigan, Wisc, Minnesota

Just got off the phone with my napa dealer, he says the tech people will have the # and they use Victor Reinz gaskets now. You dealer has a toll free #. Tell him to get off his lazy ass and call.

Hey everyone, Thanks!

I talked with my NAPA dude yesterday, who is totally awesome.. i told him to chill while i do some research. I got all my other parts and wanted to do a compression check and all that jazz on it before i go to far.

I also have heard that the flat 6 was big in the marine applications, from a couple people. I plan on fabbing up a dual carb intake (two holley 94's) and some headers for it.. split it apart and run duals. I will have to figure out the firing order to see what combination will sound the best.. because of the combined exhaust ports in the center, this may be tricky.
I have a book on it... we will see how it works out.

I need to start hitting some boat swapmeets :-)

Thanks for the part numbers!! I really appreciate it.
