I need to align the doors on a 51' merc two door. Whats the best way to go about this? I want to chop it, but not with the doors out of alignment. Thanks, -stick

Supposedly the only way to adjust the doors is to install shims between the body and the frame...I haven't personally tried it, but I've seen the question asked on the shoebox website...

First make sure the hinges are tight.
on your merc -I believe the hinges all bolt to door and posts-so they are completely adjustable- unlike the early fords.[30's]
loosen the bolts on door but not posts- all slightly and close and latch. then you may have to raise or lower the "dovetail/strikers".
once they hold the door at the height you need you can shut door and work it frt to rear by hand to set frt and rear gaps.
then slowly tighten the bolts on doors [while shut].

The doors on my 49 seem to me were solid mounted. I think I had to shim the body to frame mounts. Check with Ray (LEFTURN) he will know!!.........OLDBEET
