Why dustyoldbodyman? Thats where I got started. I even got an associate degree in Auto Body from Ferris State (Big Rapids Michigan)
I was the only kid, but had an older cousin that always built models and eventually hot rods who inspired me. I grew up watching gassers and funny cars. Loved Pro Stock and Super Stock cars (hence my '67 Barracuda fastback). I wanted to learn bodywork out of high school - all my friends and I had mechanical training. I have been doing it ever since. So much, in fact that I rather like flat black or no paint now an awful lot. I am absolutely in love with traditional hot rods because I absolutely hate how unreachable streetrodding got for the average dude. I have an office job now, but do a lot of painting and body work on the side. I work in the car business - always have, but find more enjoyment in the stuff I do after hours. My dad was an artist and WWII vet (waist gunner B-24) and painted the nose art on their plane. That same picture will be on my chopped & channelled 33 chevy 5 window. It will get a tri carb 235 with zoomies, a suicide front and z'd frame. There is more to bore you with but that ought to be a good start.... I will work on pics soon :)

I used to live in Milford, grew up in Howell, Now live in Farmington Hills (low rent end) about 10 mile and Middlebelt. I am an Engineer by title, not degree. I have a Auto Management degree from Ferris State and an Associate in Auto Body Repair from there also. I am a Service Engineer.
I live in an old subdivision with BIG lots and 50's houses with Patina....
I absolutely love to custom paint - just don't have nearly enough time to do it as much as I would like. Pulling the masking off of a fresly appllied flame job is a good as Christmas morning when I was a kid!!
Tons of car guys in my end of town. Atleast three more rodders in my sub alone. and some great iron!!
