Hi, I'm new here. Just following the rules and introducing myself.

I was selling a few vintage wheels and had never really been into rat rods. My dad was a greaser in the 50's and had a 46 ford with chevy stuff in it... but when this guy pulled up to my place, I fell in love with his ride. maybe he's been here too because his ride was just the coolest thing I've seen.

Anyway, got bit by a bug here and decided to do some drawing using his as a base and came up with my own version of a rat rod. I call it, the one ton rat, and it's not pretty or comfortable. It's just a rod with an attitude. I'll probably put a machine gun on the top if I get that rebelious.

Most of the parts are from a 1947 Chevy truck I aquired recently... axles and all. The rear suspension is a custom design of my own and the front is undetermined at this time but it'll come together. There's more than enough ideas out there.

If I can post pics, I'll post two. The 1st is the one I saw that made me want to get into it. The 2nd, my idea that's progressing now.

Thanks for looking. Nice site by the way.

Are you going to use the parallel front leaf springs or switch to the ford style buggy spring?

One word or advice. The term rat rod will get the ire of most folks up around here. Kind of a negative term that the media seems to like. As a rule building a "traditional hot rod" is much better.
