...found a 60's limo for sale. In pieces. Looks like a good deal for the price though. I'm intrigued because its different, and its got a older body style. Not familiar with the Austin inline six though. Anybody know info of them?

This may not help...

"There was a young man from Boston
Who drove around in an Austin
He had room for his ass
And a gallon of gas
But his nuts hung out and he lost 'em."

Hahaha.....Good one there. It would get chopped, cropped and chilled anywho, so the bodies not a much concern to me. I'll fit it to me like an Armani. I'm wondering what's the horse's behind that engine, looks about the size of a 283. And I can't really find much of specs on the net.

Same engine as a Healy 100-6?

Is it a "Princess"?
If so check it well for rust and rot in the archaic wood framed body.
There was a white one around here a whlie back that was held together with chicken wire and bondo.

Austin six were 3 ltr i think & fairly good, probably same as Healey or MGC, very heavy lump!
As DrJ said Pricess or Sheerline maybe! got pics?

I work with a guy that collects them, has had quite a few shipped from various countries...UK, Australia, NZ. He's a tightwad so you know that he is getting them CHEAP. I think he has about 22 of them now, all models and years, and he hasn't paid over $2,000 for any one of them...

Yeah its a princess. No problem on the rust, its tore down to the frame. I was going to only salvage body bits and pieces for a roadster. Lotta cutting and welding. Its only like 200.00. Just playing around with the idea on a frustrating day at work.

If it's a princess it would make one kool unusual hotrod, channel it and chop it,the engines are actually very good and take a lot of stick but speed parts are only more common here in the uk.............Marq

If it's a 60's car with a 6 cylinder, it will probably be either Austin Healey 3000 or possibly a Triumph Vitesse lump... both 6's.

Healeys were widely rallied in the UK/Europe in the early 60's. Triple weber sidedraft kits were still availiable up until 12 years ago (I used to work for a speed shop in the UK) as well as parts for the Triumph 6. Triumphtune & SAH were the folks for those parts. If they are still in business.

Cams & heads shouldn't be a major problem either, as they will be similar to chevy/buick 6's from the late 50's/early 60's, so any decent shop should be able to dp the work on them.

Sounds like a cool project, post some pics!

Dave.
