39 ford axle width

I have a buddy with a '39 .He wants to put a 9" in it.What width should he be looking for?We're both out of town away from his car so we can't measure it ourselves.We got a phone call yesterday from another guy that had a lead on a 9".
We're trying to figure out what size we need.

My 40 coupe is 60 inches ( wheel mounting flange to wheel mounting flange )......that's stock width.....39's also.

Most folks use (if they can find one) a 57 to 59 Ford car 9 inch. They are 58 inches (measured the same way).


TCI puts a 56 inch one under their complete TCI chassis.
