I'm doing some work on a 1958 Chevy biscayne 2 dr. for a guy. He is wanting to know whether it would be worth more as a resto. or a mild custom. I told him that personally I would pay more for a nice mild custom than a resto.,but thats just my opinion. Any one have any ideas on what the market is for this old boat?
Thanks

I'm thinking mild kustom...a Biscayne was the cheap model...Impala two-door hardtops and Bel Air two door hardtops (rarer than Impalas) are the most desirable models...next to Impala convertibles, of course.

I think you are correct for a Biscayne. To me the only way the car would be more desirable as stock would be if it was a factory performance car of some type such as a 348 with 3 dueces and a 4 speed or one of the ultra rare fuel injected cars that slipped through the cracks. A tasteful custom should have no problem finding a buyer come the day the owner may want to eventually sell it. GL with it, they are cool customs with awesome interiors http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

If the owner is asking questions like that, maybe he needs a new hobby.

She just wants to make sure she doesn't loose her ass if she ever decides to sell the car.

You wont lose money on a Biscayne or a belair if you customize it.
