I used to race in Oswego, Il, in the late 50's and 60's. Had a 50 Ford with a 56 Olds motor, and a Hydro. Also ran at Union Grove, WI. They are both gone now, I think. Anyone out their remember them.

Yes I remember both, raced a 1967 Bonneville Convertable, turned 12.90 to 13.10 consistantly at both of those tracks and U.S. 30 in Indiana, but Oswego was the closest and where I usually ended up. Raced there in the late 60,s about 68 and 69.

My dad raced all around the chicagoland area in 1963-64-65 for Tom Cowards Mercury Dealer Ship The team was called Tom Cowards Tomcats I have a ton of 8.mm reels I want to get on dvd. I even have home movies shot at the track with Mr Norm. I need to get on that now that I am thinking about it. Did your car have a name on it?? I will watch for it.

My brother in law and sister, Bob and Dorothy Doss managed Oswego for many years. I dont remember exactly, but probably 64to 70.Dorothy is passed, but I still keep in touch with Bob.If you raced there you might remember them. I dont know him but wasnt there a guy called HANDS,cause he had big ones .They talked about him along with many other racers.

I was the track photographer at Oswego in the 70's. It was great having trackside priviledges but when I think of the things I did and the peril I put myself in to "get the shot"...I'm lucky to still be here.
Here's one of my old pictures that I did some darkroom manipulation with:

OMG... Oswego ruined my life LOL!!! In 1966 I was 14 and made my mom drive me to Oswego Dragway from Plainfield every Sunday. I could'nt get enough of the cars and still recall seeing Don Garlits, Tommy Ivo, Don the Snake, Arnie the Farmer and others racing there. I think what I remember most where the local heros battling it out in Pro Stock in 68? Do the names; Denise Offerman (first local to run under 10 seconds), Ted Borowski (True Grit), Bill Sontag (Sontag Speed Supply), Tom Kedash, Frank Pappish (War Wagon) bring back any memories? Man I miss that place dusty pits and all!!
