Hello all, my name's Nick and joined to try to learn as much as I possible can on buildin up a rod. Ive grown up all around cars and have helped build up a few project cars/engines as well as hangin out on woodward avenue pretty much every day of summer if any of you kno what that is(car heaven). One thing I've never been able to learn how to do is build up a classic hot rod/rat rod because of my age. I'm 19 so every single person that I've met at car shows or cruising wont give me any advice or help on even where to start and give a cold shoulder.
I am in absolutly no way mechanically challenged, I make my paycheck by doing side jobs and working as a mechanic and want to build something up from scratch. I have heard S10 frame's work good to transplant bodies onto, and have a chassis available that i can pick up for like $50. But id rather get started with something like this and this is basically what I want the overall thing to look like minus red wheels and checkers and door graphics

I have no clue as to where of find parts besides ebay. I'm going for the more rat rod look and definatly not anything show worthy(cant stand show cars) I want it to be bare bones and would preferably want a flat head, but I kno nothing of them. I'd like for it to be a decent moving car but not to sure of how much flat heads can turn out for power, but if not to much ill be building up a 406 chevy. But as long as it can smoke the tires, has 3 pedals, looks something liek that^ and pisses people off I'll be happy:D
