HAMB stickers... Round II

Ok, I was thinkin' bout this sticker thing tonight...
I think that the stickers should be small, and simple.
I recommend the original "H.A.M.B." logo.
This is the Nike "swoosh" of the Jalopy Journal.
Anytime a HAMBer sees those small, simple 4 white letters on a crimson background, they know EXACTLY what they are seeing....a fellow hamber!
I also am under the impression that they should include a small white section so the Hamber can write his HAMB-name.

That way, when you see the sticker on the car, you will see what HAMBers car you are looking at and the world will be at peace in your soul.....

I bought some sticker paper at the store, created the logo that I described. Added a border and age-ing enhantsments, cracks etc.... Printed it on said sticker paper, Added my HAMB-name to it and stuck it on my precious.
Check this shit yo.....

real hotroddeathrodrockabilly patina - leave it outside for a couple weeks in the summer

probably wont cost more than ink and a bunch of sticky paper.

I didn't print these at home. I did them at work and paid for the materials myself. I had planned on offering one big one and two small ones for $5.oo. Of course Now that I have counted them I realize it won't quite work out that way, but maybe I can figure out something after I run out of big decals like instead of 1 lg 2 sm I could give 4 sm .?..

The rolls of vinyl cost about $50.oo and the foils used to print the red onto the vinyl costs about $100.00

I had bought the materials and done some other stuff for myself before the HAMB decals. But I ordered more than I needed for exactly this reason. I wanted to do something for the board.

Basically I have no idea how much to charge because if someone else went to a decal shop to get these done they'd pay a ton more than I did, but at the same time I can't cut myself out totally because I did these at work and I do this for a living. I want to give half to the HAMB if I can.

And if I run out of decals I might have to go somewhere else to get these done, as I have run myself out of materials and it was a one shot deal with my boss....Otherwise he'd treat me just like a customer (he'd bend me over the counter).

Plus if I did this and people DIDN'T send me a self addressed STAMPED envelope I wouldn't be able to do it. Once the orders start flooding in I might have some trouble monetarily speaking. I AM BROKE!!!!

Ok, I'll hold tight and see where this goes...
I get stickers printed from my connection anywhere between .28 and .75 cents each...
I know that I can get a good deal (probably around .50 cents each) and I was just gonna front the cash to have some printed and have everyone send a self addressed, stamped envelope and a $1.00 bill and I would put 2 in each envelope and send them back....

I will see what Ryan has to say and go from there...

Digital print shortrun decals are usually charged by the square foot. That cost includes set up, materials, running it, and sometimes a UV coating. Design and layout is extra and above cost of printing.

I've seen some charge from $6.00 to $36.00 a Sq.Ft. Screen printed decals and diecut, I don't know those figures. Anybody have educated guess?

Update...
I have been playing with this on the computer at home and have realized that I can print about 200 for about $10.00 cost to me (not including ink usage) (figure about another couple of bucks for ink)...

I am willing (again if Ryan approves) to print up about 400 of these bad boys, hand cut them out and send them to anyone who sends a self addressed, stamped envelope to me. I will eat the cost as a gift to my friends on the HAMB!
If I need to print over 400, I might ask for small donations to help out in case of high demand....
but other than that, I am down!

This print at home stuff... how long do you suppose it'll last in the elements? I've used stickers that have lasted 2 or 3 years on a daily driver, and some that have faded if you look at them wrong.

I plunked down $20 for the pinstripe wall raffle, and I'll gladly pay $5-$10 for a HAMB sticker that will last!

I'm not trying to be a prick, but those stickers aren't going to last near as long as these decals. They will either start to deteriorate or fade something terrible. The ones I have made are rated to last up to 5 years in constant weather with NO uv coating. If you uv coated them they'd last even longer. They are professional grade stuff like the graphics you'd find on a fire engine or a semi-truck. Made by 3M. They are NOT made with ink. It is vinyl with a thermally printed (basically melted) layer of vinyl color on top (red).

The reason for the cost was so that I could re-coup and still be able to have a decent donation to the board. I swear I am trying to do the right thing here - not trying to gouge.....If you don't like the price tell me what you would pay and that will be the price, but I have to say .50 cents is practically free and won't amount to shit for a donation.

For example:

I figured if I sold 100 "sets" that would bring in $500.oo I take my cut - and the rest goes to Ryan.

If your stickers go for $.50-.75 x 100 "sets" you only bring $150.oo-225.00 and have to split that with the board. not very impressive. Even at a dollar each youonly bring $300.oo. PLUS you still have to get them made and you wee going to make 400 of them when I already have almost 300 made.

My expectation is that you will say - ok then we could make them at a cost of $.50 per but we could charge the same rate as I have suggested....well ok but you aren't getting the same type of product. It's like the difference between a pen cam and a 8 megapixel digi camera. Would you pay the same price for those?

I wasn't looking to get any money out of the deal for me or the board... it was just for my pals on the HAMB.

You are probably right about them not lasting, but I figured that no one could complain if they got it free...

You already have those made up and they are high quality.
Once we get the word from Ryan, sell thru those and once they are gone I will help you place another order. I have a couple of friends that own National sticker printhouses and the company that I have worked at for the past 13 years has done millions of dollars worth of business with them...
they tend to hook me up from time to time....
