Sorry for the basic question, but how do I get the bearings off the axle on a Ford nine inch? Its off a 74 Bronco, and has the small bearings if that helps.
I dont see any kind of keeper,so I'm thinking they're a force fit.
I built this fourbar setup for it, but I'd like to put in new bearings and seals while I'm at it. http://people.montana.com/~kaparich/forbar.JPG

The polite way would be to use a press.

My own experience is.. I'm mad, the bearings screwed anyway and it gets pounded off with a hammer and drift. The new one get's put on the polite way, in the press, though.

Press. And preferably with a bearing collar.

how do I? the brutish way,

a BFH and cold chisel to split the inner race, use the press to put the new one on.

Since you're probably going to put new bearings in it anyway, just use a hammer and punch to remove them. Then when you're ready to install the new bearings, have them pressed on.

Wrap a big heavy rag around the bearing, take a BFH and bust the bearing with the hammer. Then take a chisel or , very carefully, a torch, and cut the remaining inner race off. Then press the new bearing on. Or just remove with a press. Lots of auto parts stores can press off/on or automotive machine shop.
