That SUCKS!

If you find more than one 57 convert,
LET ME KNOW!
http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

But more importantly,
Now you have an excuse to do WHATEVER you want w/your delivery,
Chop,
El camino conversion,
convertable,
Whatever!

Everything you've EVER wanted to do to it, now you have NO EXCUSE not too!

No one is saying this doesn't SUCK,
But you COULD make it into a blessing...?

damn man, my condolances... I'd been so sick over it i'd puke... damn.

However, some of the most elaberate customs were built from wrecked cars... I can seriously see her with a lift-off carson top... The top is junked, but other than the rear inner quarter, the rest looks rebuildable...

That really hurts, and if that car means that much to you, you should try and save it. ( And maybe do a Chop at the same time?) I know where there is a 4Dr wagon, Ill go ask if you want that for parts.

09-17-2003, 10:42 PM
Man...that sucks! I hope you find something to replace it. I still remember my high school car (not nearly as cool as yours) and the great times I had....on a lighter note, I recommend taking a few wacks at that tree with an axe, might offer some closure. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Your sedan Delivery can definitely be repaired. Will need another roof -but definitely repairable in my opinion.

i really like the idea of an elcamino. i might be way off, but it seems like that would be the easiest to do as it sits now if you could find a truck cab for parts maybe. fucking shame, man. i hope all the other HAMBers about to be hit by the hurricane make it alright. batten down the hatches, everybody.

DAMN! That completely sucks. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif I like Chromed Rat's idea of makin' it an ElCamino, though! Everything happens for a reason...maybe the ElCamino conversion is the reason for this tragedy?!

Like choprods said, that is definately fixable! Find a new roof, splice it in under the beltline trim, and you don't have much finish bodywork, either. If you leave off a couple of inches, I won't tell! The repair around the rear door/quarter, looks worse than it is, it shouldn't be bad after you cut loose the roof. A come-along, porta power, and some hammers and dollies and you should be good to go! Don't lose hope! I've got a spare roof, but I'm in NJ, any 49-54 should work.

I too feel for ya. Don't give up on that vehicle. Just put it away for a while. Some day you just might want to fix it.
I hope you get the money you need.

09-18-2003, 09:20 AM
Hey, could you use the roof or the whole body of a '51 - '52 delivery? If so I've got one....and would be glad to donate it to the cause...it's rough in the cowl area and the front floorboard...but the rear part is in decent shape.

Hey guys thans for all the kind words... there is no doubt in my mind that she is gonna get rebuilt... i think i have access to two more deliverys the same year if they are still there.... i figure i have always wanted to chop the top on it but never had the balls... The insurance company wont let me do a estimate on my own car even though im a licensed body shop... and Whiskey is the one that done the stripes for me.... and Kustm52 if those other deliverys arent still there ill hit ya up on that one... Im just so damn bummed i cant even get motivated to do anything today at the shop.. but if i get the other two one is gonna be a gasser i know that.

09-18-2003, 10:19 AM
For what it's worth, you sound like you more than know what your doing, but with a little notice, I'd be willing to come down and help you rebuild for a weekend, couple days or so. I'm not the greatest body guy, but I'm free labor, and I like to work. I might even be able to get another buddy or two to come down as well. I feel for you. It'll be hard to repair that yourself, not physically so much as mentally. Let me know.

Man my feelings are with ya. I had a barn fall about 2 years ago it was packed to the gills with cars and made a big mess. I am still banging on steel after that mess.

Wow, that tree really did some damage. Very sorry to see those pictures. I agree to just take some time and investigate different options, then have at it. It does look a good candidate for a custom treatment of some sort.

One tree in all of Kansas, and you had to park under it. Oh man, I am sick to my stomach. Once you have your grief, though, something really cool can come from it, especially with the resources offered here on the HAMB...

good luck, mAc

Wow. Dam, at least the long side trim looks OK and the rear door might be savable. Kustom52 is the man! It must live again!

Just be glad that you and/or your loved ones were not in the car when the tree went down. You can always fix a car! Good luck on the rebuild.

Hey man that sucks!! I don't know if you would have the money to come to arkansas but a buddy of mine has a delivery that got wrecked awhile back by a 16 yearold girl in a honda. ripped the whole side loose on his car. but the top is still intact. He also has a rusty stock 53 4dr wagon to. PM me if your interested.

yorgatron
09-18-2003, 01:57 PM
killer could fix that.

That's the biggest shit a tree has ever done. Punishment with ax and chainsaw is in order.

Sad stuff indeed. Chin up, though. I think a 53 ElCamino sounds like a killer idea.

Worst thing I've seen since the Tim Taylor Nomad smashing episode. (At least that wasn't a real Nomad). I was kinda hopeing this was a birdshit post too. If you can't buy it back from the insurance when they total it, at least get something from the car to use in the next one. That way, it kinda lives on in the new one if you know what I mean.

Looks fixable but probably needs more than what shows. Frame, suspension, ets might have been tweaked. Might be a good project for a Kansas HAMBCHOP type session tho. I'd help if I was closer and better at bodywork. I know we have guys on here that could bring her back to life.

There are no smileys on this bus!

Well i have mad a decision today... there is a big show at the kansas speedway this weekend... might trailer it down there and drive it in..(yep still runs and drives) Let the old girl show off the wounds... i figure ill get another one for a roof and other small stuff maybe put alittle money in my 64 cadillac convertible... who knows... maybe dump it all in the delivery....

Nads
09-18-2003, 05:38 PM
Aw man that's sad. Deliveries don't go on trees and rarely do trees fall on them and destroy them. It looks like a major smash up but repairable.
I've got a giant Laurel Oak in my back yard that's gonna be cut down on Monday. It's friggin' huge, it's gonna cost almost 4Gs to get the job done. The tree guy already warned me to move all my cars out of the limb's way.
It's gonna be sad losing the beer drinking shade the old tree offers, but life and limb are way more important.
All the best to you pal and I hope your beautiful delivery comes back better than ever.

Smokin Joe
09-18-2003, 06:19 PM
Nads, he's going to get 4G's from you, then probably several G's more for the wood if it's a real good grained oak. Just thought you should know... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

P.S. If you have any 32 Fords laying around, I'll haul them off for 3G's each. Gonna coust you 4g's if they aren't rollers tho... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

09-18-2003, 07:12 PM
Man Nads- thats an astronomical estimate to remove that tree!I paid 59 dollars and hauled off the limbs myself- I know a guy here that will drive there from Mo-and do it for lots less!Whew- http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gifHa!

k9racer
09-18-2003, 10:01 PM
Speed racer check your PM's .I was able to keep one and settle for 25% less. On a second unit I was told no and it would be auctioned at the COPAR salvage sale so I had a friend with a rebuilders lic bid and buy it for me. I hope this helps Good Luck..
