The Antique Gas Dragster Racing Association (AGDRA) has teamed up with the Central States Gasser Association to offer a racing program to strips in and close to Oklahoma in 2007. We are trying to get at least two race dates at each of 4 tracks. We will also be running at Tulsa as their racing program allows.

The HAMB dragsters will be welcome to run with us. I believe that most of the ones I have seen are within the rules of the AGDRA. These will be points races for us but a little competition will make all of us run a little better.

Race dates will be posted on the AGDRA web page as they are confirmed (the web site is down for re-construction right now...but should be back up in a week or so). Ron.

heads up racing? All racing is heads up...two indexes to choose from (11.99 and 12.99). For each event there are points awarded to the low qualifier in each index (closest to 11.99 or 12.99), overall winner and runner up in each index.

Acumulate points during the season toward championship at the end of the season...based on performance not popularity.

Godzilla,
It shows realy poor form to qiut HA/GR, then promote your new "association" here. I don't give a damn what you do or where you race. Your rules, points or website add no positive value to the threads in this forum. If you want to pick up your toys and go home, then do as you please. I'm tired of reading about it.

I'm tired of reading about it.Just providing a little information to the guys who are looking for a place to run their cars here in Oklahoma. They might want to have fun...make some runs...meet others with a similar interest in nostalgia racing.

I am sorry but I don't see that I have harmed this forum of yours...and the racers that you speak for. I can assure you that I quit nothing...just found a place to race my car and have fun doing so. The Central States Gassers are a great bunch of guys and I feel lucky to be associated with them.

Please feel free to avoid reading anything that I should post that offends you. I shall, however, continue to support the HA/GR class and its rules. While not having a car myself to run in this class, I have been asked to build a rear engine sidewinder on a 89" wheelbase with dual rear tires. I think it would be a fun build and should meet the rules to run as either HA/GR or AN/GD....sorry, you probably didn't want to read about that. Ron.

Here in Australia we will have a minimum of 3 events here in Sydney during 2007, as well as a very real opportunity to run at the Willowbank Nostalgia Nationals(in Brisbane) mid year, with the opportunity to run at any existing CNDRA 'nostalgia' event here in Australia that we choose to attend.

NOTE: Whilst we are 'technically' using an existing 'Aussie nostalgia' series, we are definately part of the HAMB universe.

Dont forget we have two afterhours events planned for the group. One is the Bubbas Trailer Park HAMBer/Spam-a-rama on friday evening and the other is a cookout at Culberson Customs/Road Rockets sat evening. Both are close to raceway park on the west side.
Would like to display your car at both if posible. Appearance fees are payable in spam and moon pies.

Well, I just heard from Terry at the Sooner Motorplex (Lawton, OK) and he says that he is "very interested" in setting a couple race dates for our cars at his track. I have given him the dates for the Tulsa races and asked him to find slots around them. He said he will call me with the dates.

I am arranging a combination show with our cars along with the Central States Gassers, so it should be a great day of oldies but goodies. The fans ought to really love it.

I will post the dates when I have them and I guess you can PM or email me and register to participate (that way I can give him a head count). I am pretty sure that there will be no cost for the cars and crews to enter and Terry might even offer a little purse...might is the operative word there. If not I will try to arrange a trophy/throphies if I can find sponsors for them. We will see....

So keep watching this thread for updates on this deal. Ron.

Hornets Will Beeeeee Therrrrrr..........

Is It A 1/8 Mile Strip???????

Hiney One Of The Hornets.......It is an 1/8th mile. Really great racing surface. I am trying to set up the same deal at Ardmore (2 race deal). I have been told that we would be able to run an 1/8, 1000 foot or a 1/4 at Ardmore. Since most of us are not running front brakes...and the shut down is a little short...I would think that the 1000 foot or 1/8th would be preferable.

Thunder Valley would be 1/8th, 1000 foot or 1/4 mile. I have not contacted them...I have been told that they are little difficult to work with so I am putting them off. I have not heard back from Ark City. The racing surface is so rough there that I am not sure I want to set anything up there or not...give me your input.

I talked to Ron in Kansas City and he is going to check with Heartland Park. I would really like to race there at least once this year. I hope it works out...keep you posted. Ron.

I can give you my input on Ark City. We took our car up there last year to do some testing. It was so rough my sun glasses fell off and wedged sideways in my helmet. By the end of the track my eyes were viberating so bad I couldnt tell where the end of the quarter was. I will never go back there.

In addition to free entry he said we will get free track food.

Email me to register if you can commit to race there so Wayne will have an accurate head count and know how large a show to plan on. I would like to be able to send along a picture of your car with the registration...and crew...if possible.

We will be a combination show with us and the Central State Gassers...so it should be a real cool old time racing program. Please email me so I can send you a registration. Ron.

Ron http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/images/icons/icon10.gifMy goal is to get the little cars scheduled to run an even dozen race dates. This is an opportunity for ALL HAMB cars to run...so there will be some non-HAMB cars running too...big deal...get over it...its the best thing to grow the class.

The more we run our cars in front of the public...and pass out sets of rules...and tell guys about the HAMB...the more this is going to grow. How is that bad for us or the HAMB, car owners or racing in general? That is a rhetorical question...I am really not solisiting remarks from the peanut gallery.

If someone wants to do something constructive...instead of complaining...how about making a trifold brochure that racers can hand out in the pits. Something with the rules and guidance to the HAMB HA/GR pages. Something positive that will peak their interest. We have got to learn to play together.........

With races already booked at mo-kan and now with wayne roberts on oct 7 it sure does split the nostalgia racers in half .Kind of like building non spec cars and calling them something else. Raced at both meets last year and had a great time .Mr roberts and Mr blanton are class acts in my book. They are both very racer friendly . Hope somebody gets them on a working page for everybodys sake

Hey,by the way hows you engine coming?Well...believe it or not...that little ole 235 is sitting in the garage right now. I am fabbing up a 3x2 intake for it and working on my second set of headers...I will have a short and long runner set to track-tune with.

I am anxious to see how it performs. It ought to be a terror on an 1/8 and maybe 1000 foot...but I don't know if it will spin fast enough to get thru the quarter. Well, I have another pumkin in the garage...I might have to build it up with a set of 390's and a mini-spool just in case.

I am looking forward to driving over and seeing you and the other guys... and the cars....at Starbird. I might try to hitch a ride with Sam and "Agent Orange." Lets hope for better weather this year.........

Hope somebody gets them on a working page for everybodys sakeNothing, I repeat...NOTHING is booked at Wichita. That date was offered so I posted it as I said I would. Nothing has been booked at Lawton, Topeka, Kansas City, Ardmore, Thunder Valley or ANYWHERE else, and won't be unless it is the will of the majority of racers to do so.

I am doing bookings for the Central States Gassers for 2007 right now. It is easy for me to include the dragsters at the same time. I will post the dates as they are offered...you tell me if you want to race on that date.

It sounds like the first race date offered conflicts with the plans that some of you have made to be at Mokan. I guess it is an acid test right off the bat. You need to decide where you want to race on October 7th. When you decide let me know and I will work with that.

I would like to offer a personal thought on "non spec cars and calling them something else." Everyone is welcome at the HAMB drags...right. It is about inclusion...right. The winner is not always the fastest car...right. So going fast is meaningless...right. Anything that promotes the HAMB in a good way is good for the HAMB...right. Attitudes and negative commentary do nothing to benefit the HAMB................

Just my 2 cents, but why is there such a problem with an "organizer" giving people a place to race? It seems that when someone says that "So and So" group wants to put on a class for the diggers, people get all twisted. Why? If you can get 6 guys together and pay to rent a track for a day, good for you....but most guys on this board can't afford the 8-10K it takes to rent a track by themselves for a day....some of us are just trying to expand your opportunities and we are gettig pissed on.....makes no sense....we're not the NHRA!

I need to get some feedback from you guys who would be willing to tow down there (post or PM me)...I am going down there because I really like the track and Terry is a great guy. I just want him to see one of these cars up close...I think he will really get into them.

If the consensus is to go I will ask him for some help finding a local sponsor for some trophys or $$$. Maybe we could do round money and race matched pairs based on qualifiying (gladiator style). Just a thought.

Thanks, Ron
