My friend that sold me my roadster told me that the Snow finally melted enough to sort out my roadster parts for the trip home. So I took a little trip up north this Saturday..., just to take inventory of a ton of junk that will be my roadster.
When I got up there My buddy opened the doors to his garage for the first time since September!!!!! And that place was so packed we had to pull cars out in the drive along with Body panels, engine parts and frames!
After about 30 minutes of diggin and relaying parts out the door I finally saw one of my quarter panels...! (?) Something was strange about it..., it looked rougher than I could remember and it was a different color!! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif
I looked back at him and asked..., Is this mine??? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif because what I had bought and what I was seeing were two different things!!! (I know I'm getting old ..., But not that old where I don't remember car details! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif) He said no those were parts from another roadster he picked up after he sold me my roadster...! "WHEW"..., http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif "SAFE"!!
He then proceeded to tell me of other Roadster deals as well as many other friends collections that will be sold!!
So..., in his Canadian way that he proceeded to show me some of these collections...! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
For the next couple of hours we were going down snowy fire lanes and up mile long drives to secret areas showing me a bunch of parked cars and trucks in the deep north woods!!!!
Many were very rough but they were finally visible because the snow melted and the trees aren't in bloom!
We then proceeded up to a series of pole barns and garages planted all around a little house and Ray said stay here until I talk to Bill! He answered the door and both waved me in. I entered his house and it looked and smelled like a tavern..., Full of smoke and beer cans everywhere!!! (Seems like retirement for him and the missus is one big party!! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif)
Bill and his wife were nice and gave us some beers as we were heading out to his shops..., again he was opening them up for the first time since September...! (Are you seeing a pattern here?)
First barn was full of Crown Victorias and he had photo's of many more which he bought out of Texas and had them delivered to him in bulk!!!! I mean that this guy had regular car carriers (2 of them) with 7 Crown Vic's on each delivering them to his house!!
Then he opens another shed and there are Lincolns of about every year between 49-72 in there!
Then the another shed had Model A coupes, Sedans and one lonely roadster sitting it it and they were all fully restored!
Finally he opens up another Garage and this is where he keeps his Hotrods and Customs..., 41 Coupe W/Flatty, 57 Fairlane, 58 Edsel (Custom), 30 Model A Coupe W/Flathead and Dual 97's as well as a bunch of speed parts!
Here I am with no Camera..., just expecting to see my roadster and head back home and all of Canada opens there doors for the "Spring Thaw"!!!!
I plan on heading back up there in about 30 days and I'm bringing a camera and taking down prices..., (Remember this and other collections will be going up for sale about the end of spring)!
I'll keep you posted when it is time...! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif
I couldn't stop thinking of this trip the whole day and was cleaning out brush around the lake and Saw my neighbor Waterskiing!!!!
It's 46 degrees in lower Wisconsin and the lake was frozen just 3 weeks ago and I thought about the "Canuks" having to wait a few more weeks before they'll be taking their Ice Shanty's off the lake!! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
Canada's beautiful..., but winter is just tooo looong! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
