#1 terminal connects to a source that only has power when the key is in the on position. The #2 terminal can be connected to the Bat terminal on the alternator or any other full time Battery supply.

Forget the external Regulator-Its juts mostly TROUBLE.....get an INTERNAL regulator alternator, leave your wiring as it is- hook the Bat wire[10 ga you have there from Ford alt -to the Bat terminal on rear of GM one.
then run a short 16ga wire [from #2 plug of the two wire plug] to the same [Rear] Bat terminal.
Then run another 16ga wire from terminal 1 [of the two wire plug] to the ACCESSORY side of the ignition switch.
Clip or tape any un-used wires left over in your installation-THEN YOU'RE GOOD TO GO!
Keep the ford alternator in the trunk for a wheel chock to hold car while changin a tire or sumptin!
