That was about it for Friday morning . . . I am going back today and try to hangout a little more , I had a little trouble as I was pulling in to the gate , I thought my water pump had shat out on me . Lots of squeeling and smoke and generaly angry things going on under the hood . After checking it out more closely however , I found a lose bolt that was too short for the hole it was in , and had tried to fuck me by pulling out of its threads . . . my bottom alternator bracket came lose and the fins on the alternator hit the top bracket and stopped it from spinning . I had already called the tow truck when , because thinking it was the water pump , and because of time constraints , I didnt think I could fix it right then and there . luckily I have a well equiped toolbox ( the bottom is filled with every lose nut & bolt I can find ) I replaced the offending bolt , tightened everything up , and made my way into the party with 1/2 hour to spare . My buddy Fip who's 1949 merc is up for auction , had to be back in S.D. at noon for work at 12:00 , so i was running out of time .

ANYHOW , thanks a bunch for "Seldom Scene " & a few of his guys for stopping on the side of the road & trying to help . . . always nice to see a familiar face when you are broken , ALSO a big thanks to the total stranger guy named Art who was walking in , and stopped to help . He suggested we take the belt offand spin things , and low and behold the water pump was fine . . . deductive reasoning began to happen , and we found the problem & of course fixed it right then & there .

Long story , already longer , I managed to drive in , take some pictures , check out the " swapmeet " , get a falafel & fries AND drive Fip back to work in plenty of time to spare . One damn bolt that was about 3 threads too short almost kicked my ass http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif I am happy to report , I was smarter than the bolt and foiled his plan to strand me on the side of the road . More to come after todays adventures !

I am glad to see Glen's Buick there....

I did some quick repair on his tranny's converter lockup system on monday afternoon. Glen said he would fill it up after he was off work and let me know how it worked. Glen never emailed

I guess it work OK

Winter grille? what's the story behind it? later plmczy

Andy

A 32 grill shell has three holes in the lower panel behind the grill. The two outer holes are to opperate the winterfront grill. The grill bars moved to close off airflow to keep the flathead hot. Not popular. Worked like a venetion blind.

That Buick is awesome, the only thing that would make it better, in my mind, is to have it parked in my garage. -Joe

Anyhow I am glad it wan no biggie to get me back on the road , I had to spend an hour trimming the damn fan down , it was hitting the bottom water pipe on the radiator . . . all the little things that decided to show up all at once http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

First of all thanks for the compliments on the car. It was a great weekend 4 days in San Diego w/ hot chicks walking around, the women really like the Buick because its "pretty". Its 400 miles from my house to the track and a great way to clear your head. If you have not been on a roadtrip in the last 6 months, GO and GO now!

Met a bunch of Hambers, my group of buddies left on Sunday morning, But I decided to stick around and come back by myself last night.
Tony, that new solenoid eliminated my symptom.
55, I did see Miles there.

I will post pics later today, I have to get rid of a big bug collection first, i have 75 pics.

It does have a Hemi in it ('58 392ci), it's owned by Al Engel from Alamo in CA and was built by Brizio. Was featured in TRJ #21.

I've been thinking recently that somebody should build a sedan like the old Chet Herbert Deuce. Imagine my surprise when I saw this at Del Mar. Cool!

Is that really Arizona Glens Buick? That thing was my favorite at the show. Can't tell you how wet the panties got, but Glen, congrats dude, one fine car.

I cannot believe all the hambsters that were there and I didn't get to meet any. That green shit box was a sedan. If that car was to dissapere forever, I would be very happy. The owner hooked up the NOS today and is heading for vlv. Don't look to close at the paint, it was a long weekend.....................

Code name of the car is GUPPINSTEIN...............
