With the monsoon we have been having here the yard is full of mud.
Stepped off the front porch last night and proceeded to break my right leg in 2 places; ankle and the bone above it. In a splint until Monday and then a cast for 6-8 weeks. Doc is hoping I wont need surgery and a pin.

Could have been a lot worse but this is going to screw up a ton of things this season.

Ohhhh....DAMN that had to hurt!
Really sorry to hear you did that 286! Your a busy guy so being held back is gonna drive you up the wall. I did a lot of reading (which I love to do!)when I had my knee busted up...but it got boring after awhile.
I feel for ya man...SERIOUSLY!

Maybe you could work on some Flatty tech to post here? Keep your mind from going numb the first couple of weeks or however long it takes to get a walking cast...just a thought!

Speedy recovery bud!

Eat lots of pineapple... no not cause of THAT, but it promotes bone growth!

Bad luck, Carl! Sorry to hear it. Probably never broke any bones racing. Life's like that. The most serious injury John Glenn sustained was a severe concussion when he slipped and fell in bathtub, so you're in good company.

Started on my new motor today, finishing the teardown that Rocky started when he harvested the 4-inch crank, all in prep for sending it to the bake-'n'-blast guy. I'll keep you posted -- sort of a virtual build but probably not as you would do it.

All the best.

Mike

DOH! I hate hearing stories like that. I can guess who's gonna be the next HAMBer to reach 10,000 posts. Hope the pain isn't too bad. If it makes ya feel any better, I ruint my left ankle in an accident at work once. They took me to the hospital and the doc said it woulda been better for me if I'd broken it. I really sprained it and tore all the ligaments and cables and shit loose inside. It was my clutch foot and I was driving a 64 'vette at the time with a heavy clutch. Hadda get my stupid step brother to squire me around in my own car! Man, that sucked big-time!
Get better.......

Think how much more time you can spend on the HAMB! Rig yourself a little wireless home network so you can have your laptop with you in the lazyboy!! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hey all, thanks for the comments!

Pain is down to a manageable level today and I slept OK.
Maybe I should start selling Percosets on EBayhttp://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Probably spend less time on HAMB until I figure how to run the biz from home. This is going to be a major hurdle.
Cant build flatties on the kitchen table either; Ive got to start training the wife to wait on me for now.

Already got the computer set up. Lazy Boy that I had moved from the family room. The keyboard on an extender cable and I can still see the 21" monitor when I use the specs.

Ham radio is in the basement and hasnt been used in a few years; maybe get to that also. Went up and down those stairs on my ass today; havent done that since I was a toddler probably.

And Mike, yeah this is a first for a major broken bone. Years of circle track and all I did was break my nose a few times and 2 of those were in the pits http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

A friend has offered a 89 Buick Estate Wagon which might be big enough to fit in. I just cant see myself not driving for 8 or so weeks; NFW!

Time for a pill which should get me flying.

Friend of mine bust up both arms in a bad crash, plastered and strapped from wrist to shoulder.
You soon find out who your buddies are when you've been in the bar drinking beer for three hours and you gotta go take a leak....... or have a dump http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
