I just got a set of split Model A wishbones for the Green bean. I have a 40 Ford Axle. Now I wasnt sure if they would fit. Now they look like all that needs done is a little heat and bend on the bones and theyll fit....Is this a good idea or should I go with an A axle for a correct fit...Im mean only a little bending maybe a 1/4 inch tops????
THANKS GUYS http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

There are two ways to make the A bones fit. You can shim them with stainless washers. The other way is to assemble the bones on the axle and heat the bones and tighten the perch bolts while the the bones are still cherry red.

Couldnt I just grind down the axle a bit on each side( where the axle and perch mounts for a clean fit?? easy and no strenth loss? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

AV8 paul if you read http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif youll see its not that they are to loose. the axle is to narrow or they axle is to thick

Whatever you do I think I would only make modifications to one part to make them fit. I think I would modify the bones to fit the axle since if you ever want to replace the bones, the replacements are probably going to want to go on an unmodified axle.
Of course, that all depends on which one is more expendable or easier to replace, the axle or the bones.
