At the age of 43, I have this bug in my A$$ to buy a car.

I want to buy a driver, something that is safe and turns some heads. I am not interested in a 100 pt show car, or a $35,000 street rod that I will panic every time a person with a belt buckle walks near the car for fear it will get scratched.

I also don’t want to be laughed out of the car show by all of you guys when I show up with a 4-dr granny car. I wouldn’t even know where to start, to restore a car, so I looking for something, where most of the heavy lifting has already been done. I want something that I can make a little mod here, a little change there, learn as I go.

Any of you have that car in your collection, it is an interesting car, a good, solid driver, clean & straight, SAFE, I can hand you the cash and drive away with it, that you just don’t have room for anymore, it needs some love and you want to find a good home for it? Let me know?

I want to stay in the $4k to $8k range. Not sure what I can get for that

I am seriously in the market, so send me an e-mail or PM if you have something that you think I might be interested in.

Thanxs

Welcome- the 4-8k range is no problem. I've seen lots of solid drivers for that. You'll probably do best looking in any local classifieds for cars that have not been modified yet, you get the best deals on stock cars. Shoot, I've seen fully restored Model A coupes go under $11k, they were NICE. You should have no problem finding a car that will only take a few mods to bring it up to safety spec- hydraulic brakes (on anything pre-1940), seatbelts, new tires, etc.
