Hi, I am Don,
I got here looking for harley carbs on auto engines and found there was an old thread in the archives 2004.
I am currently working on what I call the Senior Dragster. Rules are simple
Driver must be over 50 years old.
Wheelbase must be under 100 inches (so it can be easily transported in the back of a 1/2 or on a small utility trailer)
Engine must be an inline 6 (so creativity instead of cubic $ will be used to build it.)
Mine has a slant 6 with 6 Hd tillotson carbs.
Welcome to the HAMB!
I fit that category of senior dragster.
I am building an HA/GR with a slant in it. How does yours run with the six carbs on it? Tillotsun carbs were never my favorite when I had a Harley.

I havent got it running yet except for a couple of barks but I will. I had to convert the carbs to the Harley style as they were snowmobile carbs.
There is a picture on my website. This is something I have wanted to try for 30 years. I have built a lot of sixes in my career of all three brands but never had the time to try this. Now i have the time and patience to see it through. Success or failure i am gonna give it my best shot. Worst case is I would have to scrap it and use my four barrel intake instead but I am not ready to do that yet.
I have the pump and regulator figured out. I have a couple of small leaks from the bottom feed plugs so i have to reseal them. Today i hope. I wanna hear it run!!
Don
I hear you!
I have two two bbl carters on a home made intake on mine and have not fired it up yet, can't wait to hear it run. Need to rebuild the carb's and finish welding up the headers before I do and work keeps getting in my way.

I love those words, "On a home made intake" That is what this hobby was supposed to be about.
I spent the morning upgrading my fuel supply plugs in the lower carb feeds by removing them and sealing them with JB weld.
I also added a third primer nozzle so i can prime half the carbs at least to get it lit. When i was testing yesterday i had 3 carbs dripping slightly from those plugs so i resealed them today. I need to bump up the pressure a bit as well. I have the regulator set at the bottom now which is about 2 psi . I think I need it around 4 to 5. I hear ya on the header thing. Mine are pretty well done although I reserve the right to a bit of redesign later on.
have ya got any photos?
Don
If you go to the main board and look for a thread that was started a couple of days ago by guiseart, there are some photos on that thread. I am at work right now and have no way of posting photos.
