I've been lurking awhile and sporadically posting. It's time to formally introduce myself.

Grew up in SoCal (Ventura County) and moved to Iowa in 1968. Except for a 4 year tour in the Army, have been in Iowa since. Currently in Des Moines.

I have always lusted after those great California hot rods since I left and bought my project in 2003. It is the '27 T roadster built by Bob Urquhart of the San Diego Prowlers in 1961 and was the cover car on the October 1962 issue of Hot Rod magazine (see the avatar)

I found the car on the internet auction and flew out to Orange County to look at it. It didn't sell, but I was able to come to terms and had it shipped to Des Moines. I was able to find Bob through the Prowlers website and he has confirmed the provenance on the car. He sold it when he went in to the service in '63 and lost track of it.

When Bob had it, it appeared in several other magazines, including Car Craft (11/63), Popular Hotrodding, and was also in the old Hot Rod Spotlite edition "Custom Fords". It was also in the 1965 teen movie "Beach Ball".

The car has been neglected and suffered an ill-advised "resto-rodification", but most of Bob's build is intact. I am slowly collecting parts and adding skills to bring it back to its original condition. Bob has been an invaluable and patient penpal in assisting with the rebuild.

Thanks to all you HAMBers out there who are giving me the confidence and motivation to get it right. Cheers!

Nice car! Are you going to reproduce the original headers? I also like the 4 deuce intake. Is that on a 276? If so, very rare intake.
