Is the "pot" the diaphragm or the mechanical part?

I ended up replacing the diaphragm only on my S2D, a little
dissasembly and funny business and I was back on the road.

It's the diaphragm, it's pressed together, it can't be serviced. Not by me anyway. I understand there are guys who do rebuild them though. I need one now.

up in washington have done me right and right quick whenever I needed one.... NAPA used to be my source as well.... you might even try Pep Boys...for some reason out here on the W.Coast when I've been in a pinch they've been able to order from some warehouse in the sky and get it to me the next day.... maybe that's because the manager of the store used to be the parts guy that helped me put the '52 together...ahh well, I know they have access to the parts, just depends on if you get the 16 yr old buying time kid at the counter or the guys that care...

The 60 still has a centrifugal advance in the distributor at least right?

markanthony, it does have the centrifugal adbvance in it too. I was tuning her up the other and noticed that the distributor wasn't moving as I revved her up. It's running OK though. The engine's gonna be ditched for a 283 soon enough anyway, I'm just trying to eke a few more miles out of the smoky old stovebolt.
