Looks nice so far Mike. Did you fab the peak, or cut it out of something else. Either way I think it should look just right.

Mmmmm . . ., peaky.
Wish I could join you all this Saturday for some Olds thrashin' -- I kinda miss the old girl sometimes. The Olds that is. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Anyway, have fun, treat 'er right. The Olds that is.

Big Olds is a HIM! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I can't think of a better way for Big Olds to get "completed" then a HAMB thrash. Right from the start he's always been a "group" type project, with lots of folks, through the years, lending a hand to get stuff done on him. The HAMB thrash crew will do you proud and maybe, just maybe, you will see him finally "done".
Since this has your attention Steve, can you give any advice as to lining up the front fenders, hood, doors and fender extensions? Any help would be appreciated.

Denise --
Don't know why, but for some reason I now think of the Olds as a she . . . maybe it's been hanging around chicks too long? I probably just need to see it do a big-ass smoky burnout to change my thinking.
Everyone I've ever talked to about these cars says that aligning the hood, fenders, and fender extensions is just one cast-iron bitch of a job. Probably easiest to get the hood to fit first -- then adjust fenders/grille assembly to fit it, then do the fender extensions last.
Remember that little trick I showed you on Roger Rickey's car -- with the back of the hood shortened and the little piece of body added to the cowl? That's the MAIN reason he did that, so you could align each piece to one fixed piece, rather than aligning three moveable pieces to each other. Or something like that.
But sounds like you have enough talent and minions to get the job done . . .

Then I think you need to make it to the HAMB Drags Aug. 21st cuz Big Olds did lots of "big-ass" smokey burnouts half way down the track there last year. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I'll make you the same offer I did last year. You come to the drags and you can take Big Olds downt he track as amny times as you like. You built him, you should have the opportunity to race him. You certainly don't want to be sitting on the other end of a phone call again listening to all the fun, do you? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Thanks for the info regarding alignment. I'm sure will be able to work something out to get everything alittle closer.

I don't think that's peaked enough to cover a Crower hat and blower. Always want to keep future upgrades in mind when you rebuild a car. Might need a little final adjustment. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

"a sneak "peak" for DENISE" is pretty funny use of our language. Perhaps "a sneak peek at a peak for Denise"?
Looking pretty sharp there Mike! Can't wait to see it finished!

I sure am hoping so. Not sure which is coming to come next though. The painter is coming to the thrash on Sat so if "we" get all the body work done and Big Olds is ready for paint, and he shoots me a really decent price, at that point Big Olds might get paint this month instead of a top. The top would then have to wit till end of May. I've gone this long topless, whats another month or two http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
