Last thurs some kid pulls up next to me and ask if I have a Buick 430 in my car. (He thinks my chevy is a Buick) I said no just a SBC. He says you want one. 2 streets later I pull in and take a look.
After talking with several people at the Roundup about the motor I decide to go back and check it out a little better.
Big Ric actually threatened me if I did'nt go get it. Well I don't wanna be on his bad side so I make Flt-Blk go with me to check it out. The guy even had a bellhousing for it to run a manual trans behind it.
Well BigRic, these pics are for you.
Hopefully we can get it placed between the frame rails of the A someday.

I will lose a little bit of my coolness since I can't wear my chain wallet around you anymore. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I'm still bummed for you. If you guys are gonna be late at Marks tomorrow night I'll try and come by after the kids go to sleep. We can check out the damage and see what options we have at fixin it.

Thats cool Phil. That nailhead will look great in your A!

Not a nailhead...but still a damn cool engine! Guess you'll have to take a look back at Fat Hacks post on them. Nice score Phil.
That thing will be a stump puller, Phil. I bet a mild 455 cam from TA performance would wake it up, too. And I see Offy 2x4 intakes from time to time for 430/455s.
You're gonna have to strap those kids in extra tight with a big Buick and a 4 spd. Believe me, you won't regret putting that motor in after you get it running...those Buicks are torque monsters.
You should talk to C9...I think he has a 455 Buick in both his roadsters.

Yeah Karbreaker its going in the A. I ain't SKEEEERED.
Bass, I was wondering if I could get a 2X4 for that. I had done a little searching and turned up nothing. I'll just place my order with you before the next swap and lurk behind you.

I was told Bass could find things at a swap meet like nobody could, must be true! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Sum Bitch is heavy. It's going to need all it's power to
move itself down the road.
I can't wait to get it between the rails. Hopefully it
gets done before the Boy starts driving.

Actually Tyler, a Big Block Buick weighs almost the same as an SBC....and way less than a BBC.

Dude,
That is F'n great. I love odd ball engines in hot rods. That thing is going to be a monster. If you don't have it on the road for the drags, it's going to eat you up this year. Maybe you should try to go for a mid-engine set-up for traction. It sounds like you'll have to start a new tire fund once it gets on the road. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

My fear now is since I'm not useing the 283 I may give Bass a run for his money on breaking Saginaws and tearing stuff up.
Just don't drive like I do. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
Seriously, a Saginaw should hold up a little better in a light car like your A. Oh...and don't dump the clutch at 4 grand.

Oh, god! It will take several years of ridiculous driving to break as much shit as Bass. Besides, it's not like he's going to stop breaking shit any time soon. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Phil, look out for an A833, the Dodge/Plymouth 4 speeds. Stouter than an M-21, a T10 and definately any Sag. Might even be stronger than an M-22. You've got plenty of room on that bellhousing for the narrow Dodge bolt pattern and the Dodge 4-speeds are cheap compared to buying heavy Chevy stuff.
Phil forgot to mention - he needs a FLYWHEEL. So, if you've got one, cough it up.

I had a 430 in a 69 wildcat convert that I picked up for free. It had sat for 15 year and was a SEVERE rot box! The owner tryed to get it runnig and gave up. He said I could have it since it was junk! I had it running in about an hour. Tons of power! Many smokey burnouts! I sold the car on epay for $350 for the motor and trans!
Great find!
