I was lookin around the net for 42 Ford Production numbers. I couldnt really find anything.
Does anyone have any websites with Ford production numbers or any other manufactuers? I find it interesting to know how many cars were made.
Thanks,
Nick

Considering they didn't have a new model till after the war, I wonder if all those staff cars were in that number.
You picked an interesting year to ask about. Did they keep building cars for the military and Govt. during the war? Or, did they stop building cars all together except Jeeps and trucks.

Joe, from an old reference book that I have, most of the war production numbers was for Jeeps and military trucks. But they did make vehicles for staff cars and a limited few were made available to doctors, police departments and a few trucks were available to farmers and companies that could show a need. The companies were usually associated with the war effort.

There were two main paths for new cars in the USA during the war--when the government ended civilian new car sales early on, all the cars still available in dealer and factory stocks went into a government pool. People in critical occupations like doctors as well as local police could apply to be able to buy a new car and if approved got one released from this stockpile of '42's.
The Army staff car '42's were special built runs, originally equipped with OD paint and the various extra lights, heavy duty upholstery, and so on required by the milspec. A couple of extra runs of these were made during the war, and I would guess that they got serial numbers marking them as 1943 or whatever Fords. There were other special runs--I believe Ford made a small run of civilian trucks in about '44 because of a critical shortage of farm trucks.
What Bruce said. The government ordered a halt to all civilian car production on February 10, 1942. Between January 1, 1942 and the halt of production, ford built 43,307 of the afore mentioned 160,432 total model year cars.
The final '42 cars were assembled with painted trim instead of chrome because of military need, but it doesn't say exactly how many were built that way - but the order was issued by the government on December 4th, 1941.
After that a limited number of cars were built for government and essential civilian use during the war years. Those cars are not part of the production figures.
Here's some styling works that were in progress before the war.
