Its been awhile, but I finally got back to work on the 35 truck, just got a new job at a race motor shop so stuff has been kinda messed up here in WisconSIN, but Its all getting straightened out. got lots done on the BARE METAL BITCH though, and I finally got around to building headlight mounts and installed front shocks after the first grille was destroyed last fall without them. The headlights are lots lower now ......

I built the the headlight stands and shock mounts out of .120 wall cromoly, and machined some spuds to mount the lights to. I was going to bolt them to the frame, but after many beers and thinking, I couldn't figure out a clean way to do it so.... I turned up the welder and burned them right into the frame, I hope they won't break off, Its probably not correct per an engineering standpoint, but fu*k it.... its only an old RAT ROD.......

You're right, it's been awhile since you posted anything. The truck look great (as usual), I thought you'd be putting larger headlights on it when you got around to it. Nothing wrong with the ones you used I just had a vision in my mind about it.

then.... I decided it was time to adress all the junk hanging off the firewall, I had the coil, ballast resistor, voltage resistor, wire clamps etc hanging on it. I had stuff hanging on it just to cover other holes that were there from the last guy that tried to hotrod it, I removed everything, and plugged and patched about 100 holes, the worst one was on the drivers side where I had the voltage regulator screwed to an aluminum plate covering a 3"X3" master cylinder hole that looked like it was chewed into the firewall. All the electronics are now mounted to a welded in hat channel piece with nutserts inside the truck. and now the firewall is alot cleaner.....

Finally got the old wreck registered and legit too.... but the NEW licence plate was too shiny so, I kinda sandblasted it on accident and it was too close to something that I was painting with red oxide.......

and to address the NOISE issue, I ordered 16 4" baffles from JC whitney ($3 apiece) and welded them together to make 8, 8" baffles ....they slip in the tubes , fit great, and are held in with a 1/4" screw, but do almost NOTHING to quiet the truck down.... Its still really loud, but they will help the low end alot........

finally I installed a fuel sending unit in my fuel tank, and had it sealed. It had some seapage last year, but I took it to the radiator shop and they sloshed some stuff in there and now it doesn't leak a drop.I believe the tank was a RV water tank. I scored it at a swap meet for $10 a few years ago and added a sump, filler, vent, and mounts. Its finally warming up here so I'll have this thing back on the road in another week or so..... but I still have tons to do.....LUKESTER

Hatch, NAW, that's not too heavy in the front. That's the JAYNE MANSFIELD look that was so popular in the 60's. So it must be TRADITIONAL.

Lukester, first off nice truck, there are alot of nice details you have done. I like the look of your clean firewall. How and where did you run your wiring for the electronics from outside to inside the cab? Thanks, later plmczy
