Introducing: MadRat

Well, I'm a new Forum Member from the Netherlands.
I've been reading arround here for a while now..
Think its about time to introduce myself...

What about me:

I'm another "Marcel" from the Netherlands.... Guess our parents were not so orginal with picking names when we were born....
I'm a 41 year old kid happily married and we have a 7 year old son named Tygo.
I'm working as as a digger in an archeological excavation-team in Nijmegen, the oldest town of the Netherlands.

Hobby's and interests:
* US old school Hot Rods and HD & Triumph bobber-bikes..
* My American cars: Long time ago I owned a '66 Hardtop Mustang. Later on I owned a 4x4 '77 Dodge Pickup truck and I often go terrain and mud riding in the weekends with some friends. I sold this truck a few months ago and now I'm driving in a 2WD Dodge Truck also a '77. This truck will be transformed in a two-tone old-school rod-look truck. I'll post some photoshopped pic's later.. I know this ain't the real thing but for my work I need a lot of loading-space...
* Collecting and building all kinds of scale models and die cast's.
* Collecting all kind of old maps, military and civil.

* Future dreams... building and owning an early '30s Ford pickup truck in traditional '50s/60s old skool rat-rod style, but at this moment these are only dreams...
Right now I'm only reading books and getting loads of information from the internet about old school rods.
My time will come!!! You can count on that!!! :D

Well, that's about me..

Excuse me for my poor US language..

Welcome Marcel,
I have painful, but wonderful memories of Nijmegan. I did the Nijmegan March in 1974 and 1975 (got smart in 76). Thirty miles a day for four straight days, in formation, toting a 45 pound pack. Brutal.

Beautiful place, however. The dig sounds cool.

Yep, the 4-days marches are growing every year, last couple of years almost 50.000 people from 62 countries started it..
Sadly this year things went very, very wrong because of the extreme hot weather, 2 of the walkers died and 33 had to go in critical conditional to the hospital... Under them were good-trained atleth's and soldiers... the 4-days marches get canceled after this sad day...

Even more famous are the fests arround the 4-days marches. 7 days of music, in the whole town, more then a million people are visting these fests...
